StevePake---- Question???
So when are going to get a Max? I see you posting here alot and you seem to have alot of respect for the 5th gen. Maxes. You offer alot of unbiased input between the TL, Accord & Max. You would be a great asset to this forum. So whats up???? Make it official, PULL THE TRIGGER!!!!
Is it the car or the forum? Have to admit, Kev does have **** on lockdown here. IMO, this is the best car forum on the net bar none. Ive had a ton of help from these guys. Stop me, im getting all sentimental now.

Steve is cool.
haha
...i saw this thread last Friday and was replying, but then all hell broke lose at the office and I never got around to finishing before I took off for the weekend.
haha...well, see the link in my sig. I might be able to get a 2k2 in a year, but we'll see.
I've always been a Maxima enthusiast, and it was actually the Maxima that made me an auto enthusiast to begin with.
I still remember to this day way back in the early 90's when they were advertising the 3rd Gen Maxima's on TV. They had a businessman taking some colleagues someplace and he day dreamed that he was rocketing through cobblestone roads in Europe through tight corners and flying around, and then he was back to reality and was at his stop or something. I guess maybe that was the start of the "4DSC" campaign. Even though I was barely a teenager and didn't even have my license yet, I thought that was awesome. Especially when the Maxima had 190HP from a 3.0L V6 when the best Detroit was doing back in those days was a crappy and pathetic 130-ish HP from the same displacement. So that's what made me both an import fan, and a Maxima fan - the Maxima - the fastest 4 door sports car on the planet
Thanks for the compliment! Well that's just how I am - straightforward and no-bullsh*t. And because I love all Japanese imports and not just the Accord, or the Maxima, or the TL-S, or a WRX or whatever I'm not going to give biased information, even though I do drive an Accord and moderate an Accord forum :-)
Additionally, my ego/self-esteem isn't based on the performance of my car, so if a TL-S or a Maxima whips my butt around the block I won't take it as a personal insult and run home crying and flaming other forums, like some of these TL-S weenies do.
I just like Japanese imports in general, and hate it when people BS and say something (TL-S) can't beat something else (Maxima 5-spd) when in fact the numbers show that it very easily could happen.
And being an engineer helps me back stuff like that up too
As much as I would have loved to buy a Maxima (because I've always loved them - it was #1 on my list when I started looking), it just didn't work out that way. For me and my own needs the Accord V6 just turned out to be a much better car for me. The big thing is that you can put 87 octane in the Accord V6 while the Maxima needs premium, and the AV6 has similar performance to the Max/automagic. When you drive 30,000 miles per year you've just gotta think about things like that...
Yes
I like the Maxima (already established) and plus you guys are more fun to hang out with than my Honda brethren. This forum is much more relaxed and easy going than any Honda board, and especially the Accord V6 forum that I look after. That forum is more of a primarily technical-focused forum and not a mix of tech stuff and funny stuff that you see here. The Honda guys can just get too hardcore for me sometimes and just need to chill out a little bit.
Also, you guys seem to be a little older, more mature, and a little more professional (career-wise) than the AV6 guys, which I like. Many of the AV6 guys are much younger and mommy and daddy bought them their cars and all of their mods too. As a young professional myself, I can identify with you guys a bit better.
I guess you could say that "who I am" matches most closely with a 5th Gen Max owner, but my needs in a car match most closely with an Accord. It's funny how things work out sometimes, ain't it?? hehe
* * * * * * * * * *
Well, in addition to the improved specs on the 2k2 Maxima, I hope Nissan fixes some of the problems from the 2000-2001 models (ie fuel-cut, crappy paint, that fuel filler splash guard thing, etc.). I might be in the market for another car in 2k2, I might not be, or maybe I'll just trade-in and upgrade - we'll see.
Regardless of what happens, the 2k2+ Maxima will be at the top of my list if any car upgrades, trade-in's, or swaps are in my future, and you guys will be the first to know, too... ;-)

Well, since this thread pertains to Nissan's and Honda's, I'm going to ask if there is a factory or after-market autodim mirror available for a 2000 Accord EX V6. I installed the Nissan factory mirror, really a Donnelly mirror, and am looking for the same for an Accord. Would the Nissan version fit. I think the power source may need to be determined, since the fuse box is probably different.
