So today I let my mom take my car out as a favor to run an errand. She has an 05 G6 and isnt to pleased with it. So when she gets back, I asked her what she thought. She loved the car, she says the steering is nice and tight and it is very luxiorious. She also sneaked in a comment about how fast it was lol o.0
She wants to get into a 6th gen, but the G6 is like investing in Enron right before the collapse. Theres a 10k gap between whats it worth on trade and what she owes on it.
So just thought id share how much the 5.5 gen owns.

LOL.... That is why I would never buy any new car. Depreciation the moment it rolls off the lot.

True story. My ex boss just lost his @ss on a G6, his wife liked it at first then grew to hate it.

I let my mom borrow my 2k3 6-speed to get coffee, I hope it comes back in one piece.

Edit: she said it was too fast. Damn Volvo drivers.

nissan has some of the worst depreciation rates of all japanese car makers. their year-end discounts on new, and last year models kill the used car values. not as bad as gm and ford tho.

My mom doesn't drive, but my wife's parents love my Max. But then, they're a Chrysler family and have thus never been in a nice car before.

this has to be one of the most uniformed, biased statements i've ever seen on here. The G6 isn't a bad car at all. In fact it's an excellent car. GM sourced the people who do the seats on Audis and BMWs for the G6's seats, the Chassis is the same one the Saabs are very nearly beating the 3-series with in how nicely put together it is. . .in a FWD setup! The interior's kinda cheap, but it's VERY well put together, this car even won an award with J.D. Power & Associates for Initial Quality. the 3.5l in the G6 is a pushrod with no VVT though, so i guess if your complaints are about performance, face it, if you've owned a 5th or 6th gen, you're SPOILED and nothing really seems as good. The handling's less in the G6 but again, G6 isn't tuned towards sport as much as our cars. I bet with some Eibachs and better tires/rims, it'd be alot closer. Anyway, the bottom line is there are FAR worse cars out there. Remember the Yugo? what about a Chevy Cavalier from the 80s? or Fiat? All cars depreciate, in fact, most cars depreciate RAPIDLY. if you want something that holds it's value you get either a truck, or a collector's car. GM, Ford, and Chrysler, pretty much ALL their cars devalue fast because, especially in america, there are BOATLOADS of the same model with simular options around, Chevy apparently sold the most cars in 05, fighting with ford who had sold the most for the previous 9 years. So, go ahead and trash it, but cars would be ALOT more expensive if it wern't for all these business practices.

Oh yeah, Back on Topic, only 3 people have driven my car, and i agree with the seat setup thing, it frustrates me to no end. memory seats? nah, i'd still prolly tweak it just because of that psychological effect someone else being in MY seat has on me. one of my friends curbed my OEM Ti edition rim >_< i think i was hyperventilating involuntarily. and my mother had troubles with a Gated auto for some strange reason.

thats why i let no friends drive my car, that or they are responsible for any and every damage that they do to the car while they are driving it.

She's $10K upside down on it already? That couldn't have been just from depreciation alone, sounds like she got ripped a new one when she first bought it either on her trade or on the actual car price.

QFT!!!! I hate when other people drive my car. The only time I don't mind changing the seating position is when I have to make more room for a lady friend...
