Third Brake Light Option...

These are standard L.E.D.s that I installed and wired directly to my brake lights. They fit perfectly in that space between the lid and bumper. Let me know what you think.

The pics aren't that great but the LED's are really bright at night.

Uh... Where's the third light

It's those little things on top of the bumper are it, it's not very visible. You may want to add more or something.

It's the three on the bottom, the two on top are the license plate lights. They are bright but as the write up says the pics suck.

Uh, sorry... not liking that. Stick to OEM brake lights. Extra lights only look good on dually trucks and Hummers IMO.

Would've stuck with the original but I replaced my spoiler and no longer have one. Cool though... that's why I post em up.

I don't think they're a problem from a legal standpoint. People use all kinds of 3rd and 4th brake lights....trailer hitch lights, etc etc.

That said, if you have to get an inspection, you will probably fail it - I don't think the LEDs qualify as a 3rd brakelight for those purposes. All cars newer than 1990 or so are required to have a 3rd brakelight mounted at eye level or higher, IIRC (i.e in the back window or spoiler), so you may have to retrofit one of the back-window 3BL's that came with the GLE/GXEs without spoilers.

I think LE may be more concerned with the lack of a license plate

OEM brakelights FTW!!! If you were to fit a center brakelight from a non-spoiler GXE/GLE, would you be able to see it through your new wing?

My new spoiler is lower then my OEM. I would have to check out the third brake light from a GLE/GXE to see if you would be able to see it. The great state of Florida, you are not required to do the yearly BS inspections so there isn't one to fail. I could always do something in the top of the back window. I don't know.

Honestly.......it's been on the past 3 cars I've owned. I bought it from a local junkyard browsing around. It's an 02 Accord spoiler led light, and I just wedged it between the rear headliner and window and ran the wire to the rear spoiler led. I use it more for added protection then looks, but I guess it'll work for asethetics purposes. I'm sure any spoiler led would work, give it a shot and post pics y0!

That's looks really nice & clean. I think Orgullo should go with a setup like this since it looks clean and looks as if the car was made like that. In fact some cars come with the third brake light at the top of the rear glass like the setup Deckdout2 has. Very unique idea.

I'm pretty sure our OEM spoiler lights ARE LEDs, aren't they? Maybe I'm wrong though...

Good deal! I'm sure it's more visible up there, and the added protection will hopefully do some good.

I'll take one today when I get home. Which are you using? I used the light bar that came on the OEM spoiler. All you have to do for that is pull the headliner down in the back and put it in place. Then push the headliner back up, it'll clip in and wedge the light in place.

Sitting in the back seat, take off the right panel in the back window. You'll see a small hole to feed your wire through at the bottom in between the wall and the rear deck lid. After doing this you should see a wire cover that is attached to your trunk lid arm. Take off the cover and you can splice your wires to that. Red w/ Green Stripe + / Black -

If there isn't a wire on your trunk arm, then you can splice it straight into your brake lights.

Take a pic when you get it done and show it here if you don't mind. Thanx

i'm thinkin about doin this before long... too much free time on my hands this week. How many LED's are in the original spoiler? I found this one online (not OEM) that has 35 led's.
http://www.electrodyne.cc/Merchant2/...t_Code=555111A

Or i can get one for 12 bucks more that has 60 led's.

Can you take that pic you said you'd take? tia

That's pretty cool! Although because your Max is black, at night, it may look like you have red strobes used by fire dept. vehicles. Not sure how law enforcement officers may perceive the 4th tail but it may not be that big of a deal.

meh, almost 2 years on this car, and about 5 years total on previous cars and it's yet to give me any issues with teh po po. it operates no different then the brakelights already on the car. it lights up the same time and doesn't do any flashing. it does catch people off guard cause it just pops up when the brake is applied.

the "4th brake light" looks good if you didnt have a spoiler....or maybe one that didnt have the LED....id be interested in this for sure so if you could show pics of the install from the inside that'd be great. good job first time i've seen that.

Got the idea from Deckdout.

Here you go. Pictures aren't really specific but you can pretty much tell. If you need more help then ask.

Pull your headliner down and position your led bar where you want it (center) and attach it in place with 3-m tape.

IF you are using the the led bar from your spoiler or one like it then you can attach the 3-m tape to the arms which will be under the headliner and out of site as oppose to sticking it on your back glass.

Sitting in the back seat, take off the right panel in the back window. You'll see a small hole to feed your wire from your led bar through at the bottom in between the wall and the rear deck lid.

After doing this you should see a wire cover that is attached to your trunk lid arm. Take off the cover and you can splice your wires to that. Red w/ Green Stripe + / Black -
If there isn't a wire on your trunk arm, then you can splice it straight into your brake lights.
