Air Conditioning not as cold at idle

My wife noticed that the AC is not that cold while at idle (at a light). During driving, the AC seems fine. Any ideas? No codes or SES. 142K on original stuff (AC compressor, alternator, etc).

Appreciate any ideas.

Pretty much ormal, unless it starts blowing warm. Might want to make sure both fans come on (in front of the radiator) when the A/C is on.

Thats kinda the way ac works. The engine is not spinning the air compressor as fast at idle as when driving. Therefor, the air isnt as cold. It may just be more noticable now that the car has higher miles. On a side note, my miata had a much smaller engine and compressor, and the ac temp change was very noticeable at idle.

uhh... because the only air goin to the condenser (in front of radiator to cool refrigerant) is from the fans, not freely from motion. even if u get a brand new car, its the same

compressor, which obviously compresses refrigerant, keeps the high side pressure the same while running or at idle

not sure,,,I realize that the fans are the only source of air during idle, but that aint it. It is noticably more noticable during the last few days than last month.

The temps a bit higher right now than they were a month ago (they are here anyways). Could be directly connected with the lack of cool air you may be feeling. Maybe just have your A/C system inspected for leaks etc.

its perfectly normal. My 00 Maxima is the same way. Plus the weather has been very hot lately. So it might just be the fact that the fans are the only source of air.
Not to hijack your thread, my fans seem to be louder than my friend's 5 speed 00 Maxima. Is this because Im Auto? (I suspect the fans are not factory though)

My 2000 doesn't do that... its cold all of the time, while it gets colder faster when started on a hot day when I drive instead of idle.

My first 95 would only get cold while cruising, but it would stay cold when I stopped. I was about to recharge the AC but then I get rear ended and totaled the car, so I never figured out the problem.

geeno..

i wouldnt worry too much. My buddy has one of those ridiculous Yukons and the A/C on that thing is horrible at idle too. As long as its good when driving you should be ok.

On another note, I can't believe how loud the fans are at high speed. Like a freight train.
