Battery and Brake Light Displayed At Same Time

Hi everyone,

My 01 Max's battery warning came on last night... about 30 seconds later, the brake light came on. I was about 50 miles from home, and it was night time, so I turned off the fog lights, radio and AC... also dimmed the console. When I got home the battery had 10.2 volts. Seems like a charging problem, but I wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem, and what the cause was.

I fully charged the battery, and the lights are still on. The brake system is in good shape, with plenty of fluid. I have 80,000 miles on the car.

Thanks in advance for the advice!!

Regards,
Wade

replacing the alternator looks like it'll take hours! all the more reason to do it yourself I guess.. lest the dealer suck you dry. anyone know if this job would be easier if you did it from the bottom of the car?

It is removed from the bottom, but some work will need done up top first. Should be about an hour job with hand tools. If you are spending 220 at autozone I highly recomend spending 270 and getting a Nissan reman from the dealer. After doing this job you won't want to be re-doing it in three months. The only re used parts in the Nissan alt is the casing. Just my opinion. Good luck.
