aftermarket ebay key

i did a little search, but didn't find anything useful. I was wondering if anyone had experience with aftermarket keys on ebay for 2000+ maximas. Im about to order two, but I wanted to know if anyone had problems with them. I heard that they dont work some times tho... is this true/

i have experience with aftermarket keys. make sure the ones u order on ebay has the computer chip in it. and bring it to a locksmith who knows how to set those things up.

if not, just go straight to the locksmith and they usually have keys like that already.

note: not all locksmiths do it i think.. but look around.. i paid $85 for a backup key.. material and labor..

You still need it programmed. Once it is, you can use it for a starter.

There are locksmiths out there that can program your key, usually cheaper than going to the dealer. Call around and see if they can do it for you. Make sure you have all your keys because they have to reprogram them all at once.

I have one too, it looks just like the stock key except a different name on the key and different plastic, but its shaped the same. The dealer cut the key for free, and it can unlock the doors and trunk and he told me it was 42 bucks to program. Half an hours labor with the consult-II. I had it programmed when I was down there a few days later to pick up parts and they just did it for free, suprised me but was pretty sweet. It just takes like 5 minutes, maybe get a tech to do it on the side for 20 bucks like the timing advance

I'm looking at getting a new keyfob for an 03 Maxima...the ones on eBay claim to come with programming instructions. Are they hard to program yourself?
