Fix for rusted exhaust?

My stock exhaust has sort of fallen apart. Where the pipe that goes into the muffler meets the pipe coming from the b-pipe has come apart. One of the brackets that hold these 2 pieces together rusted off (muffler side). Has this happened to anyone? I took it to a muffler shop and they tried to sell me a new muffler. There is nothing wrong with my muffler. Anyone know how this can be fixed?

Thanks

Exact same thing happened to me... except I had already replaced the muffler. Payed $175, they replaced from the cat to my existing muffler and upgraded to 2.5" diameter. The resonator was replaced with a Thrush glasspack.

It's a very common problem with 5th gens. Some have said they were able to get it welded for less than $100 but I didn't have such luck. All the shops I go to insist on replacing the muffler.
