front brake caliper bolt (14mm)

I was changing the front brake pads yesterday (2001 I30) and while I was finishing up and tightening up the last bolt for the caliper (14mm head bolt), I over screwed and snapped it.
since it was saturday no dealership was open. I went to the auto parts store and asked if they have the bolt in stock. they looked in the computer and found brake caliper pin/bolt for $25. and didnt' even have it in stock.. it looks like they have hole assembly of brake caliper pin/bolt, whatever those are.

I'm wondering if the dealership has the single bolt for sale or I should pick up the whole package and pay for unnecessary parts just to use a bolt.

Yes, the dealer sells the pin and bolt seperately. I had bought a set of four (2 pins and four bolts) just a couple of weeks ago because, I, also, snapped a bolt while trying to loosen my rear caliper. I bought these for back ups. The bolts are real soft (like aluminum) and can be easily broken if enough stress is put on them. Upon tightening them, I had torqued them about 10 ft. lbs. less than specs so that I wouldn't break any more. The pin and bolt ran me about $15.00 for the set. The bolt is 14mm, and you can buy these at Home Depot or any hardware that sells metric. Just make sure the bolt is about the same length while screwing it into the pin. I would just take a trip to the dealer and buy the bolt. It's only about $5.00 or so. Good luck!

I broke both the bolts on one caliper last weekend. Got it from the dealer for $6.50/bolt, have ordered 6 more before I embark on the pads replacement, haven't recieved the ordered ones.

Remember the torque on these bolts are 20-30 ftp and don't forget to put anti-sieze on them.

thanks.

I was going to change the rotors as well for the fronts but I couldn't get that 19mm bolts out. completely stuck. I wrestled with that bolt for 30min and gave up and changed only the pads and broke 14mm bolt at the end..

went to dealer, picked up one bolt @ C$10.
I bet the bolt would cost about 50 cents or less to produce.
