Transmission Replacement Cost

[[COLOR="Navy"][/COL
I HAVE A 2000 GLE WITH 140,000 MILES AND WAS TOLD TO SELL IT OR TRADE IT IN BECAUSE, TO REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION WOULD BE ABOUT $3000.00 OR MORE. SINCE THIS IS MY 1ST MAXIMA WHICH I BOUGHT WITH 135,000 MILES ON IT AS FUN CAR, I HADN'T PLANNED ON GETTING RID OF IT ANYTIME IN THE NEAR FUTURE. AT WHAT MILEAGE SHOULD I CONSIDER REPLACING MY MAXIMA (WHILE IM AHEAD) IN ORDER TO AVOID A TRANSMISSION/ENGINE REPLACEMENT OR REBUILD COST, ETC?. AND ARE THE COSTS TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION REALLY THAT HIGH? WHAT ELSE SHOULD I LOOK OUT FOR WHILE OWNING A HIGH MILEAGE MAXIMA?

ANY INFO APPRECIATED!

If its from a dealer then yeah it is that high, you should be able to get a rebuilt tranny for 1000-1800 with a good warranty, then probably around 800-1200 to put it in, however that can be right around your 3k mark. A salvage tranny can go from 500-900 bucks, but a dealer is gonna say, "trans replacement is 3000 dollars, why dont you come on over here a little to our sales floor and we'll see what we can do for you?" and they already know your trans is shot so theyll hose you on trade-in

You have to have 15. It is an automated feature to cut dowm on spammers, not because we feel superior.

I was wondering the same thing at first.

The thread may be a split from another thread where a guy posted his own question in someone else's thread, and a mod felt sorry for him and made it its own thread.

Sometimes (rarely) we moderators have a heart.

lol oh wow u guys bored, lol. Who ever told you 3g's to fix or to put in a used trans you should shoot them or fken pimp slap em like a ho, to rebuild mine it cost 1700 plus i got a year and 15k warranty, they fked up fixeing it the first time so they redid it and it has been running strong so far. You can get used trannies for like 700 bucks and if you know how to used some tools and have a couple friends you can pool out the tranny yourself

Are you very handy? I would look for a low mile used tranny. Take it to a shop and have them check it out and maybe have install a shift it. Then install it yourself or pay someone a couple hundred to install it.

stop typing IN ALL CAPS.

Also, you don't need to quote your own message to reply to the thread.

Just go look through the Picture sticky at the top of the 5th Gen forum page or the Members' Rides forum. Plenty of colors there.

And btw, please refrain from typing in caps.

All GLEs are Autos, unless they were swapped.
