Another check engine light question

Hey guys, I have a couple of questions about check engine lights. I don't want to hijack the other CEL thread going on right now. My questions are these: 1) If the light comes on, but then goes away by itself, does that mean the problem is fixed? 2) I pulled a P1167 code the other day, the CEL is still on. What does this mean? I don't see much written on this particular code. Is it something to be ignored? Does it indicate there are other REAL problems that are causing the code?

The reason for the first question is that over the past 4 months, I have had 3 CEL's now. The first two times I ignored them, and they went away on their own within 3-5 days. I never pulled the codes and never noticed any problems with my car before, during, or after the CEL light came on. I am starting to think this may be a recurring code now.

1) technically, yes. The CEL tends to reset after a number of cold starts if the problem is fixed. It has to do with how the ECU recalibrates or re-analyzes the system every so often. However if the CEL keeps going on then its most likely a problem that should be addressed

2) go to www.phatg20.net and download the ESM and find out what the code is
