what are the absolute best PERFORMANCE mods?

Whats up guys i recently just purchased a 2k2 max and i have to say that it runs very well. I also have an 06 but i wanted something that i can mod up and take to the streets ya know?

Anyhow, the car is an automatic. Im not looking for anything as far as suspension mods because i have all of that pretty down packed. I do need to know what are the best mods to put on an automatic to simply had more horsepower and speed to the vehicle. As stated before, i basically want to have this car as a to-from school car as well as take the car to the track and to the "streets" if you know what i mean.

Price is not an issue, so please feel free to help me mod my max.

a 6 speed swap...j/k.

I always love the "money is no object, what mods should I buy for my car" threads.

Headers are the best bolt on for adding power.

The best thing you can do for yourself right now is to SEARCH!

There have been hundreds of the same exact thread posted... All of them say the same thing and all have been locked....

Welcome to the ORG.

alrighty, if i knew how to access the search feature (gain permission), you would have to say no more. However i dont so fill me in on that. The yahoo advanced search feature for the org is garbage and really doesnt help much.

SinCity, thanks, im ordering the headers from Stillen right now.

Cancel your order . Stillen headers are garbage go with cattman or hotshots. And if money is no problem you should donate so you can access the search function.

VB mod on your tranny... gives you quicker and firmer shifts.

Then the obvious.. Exhuast, Intake, Headers, Y-Pipe, etc. Suspension, Illuminas are the most commonly used shocks, along w/ Tien S or Eibach springs. BBK kit, 300ZX or Wilwood. Performance tires... probobly the first thing you should get along w/ some nice rims.

edit: damn vsamoylov, beat me to the vb mod... I took too long to type this up lol.

a supra?

you said money isnt a problem...

how about a custom turbo... but i dont think you would know where to start..

so go with an intake, headers, piggyback, and spray if you want.

upstatemax, did you ever get your car dynoed after you did the header install? My car is also a 2000 a/t and I'm hoping mid to low 14s are possible with this tranny. N/A of course.

Cancel your order now. There are minimal gains with the Stillen headers - they are poorly designed. You will only get substantial gains with the Cattman or HotShot headers.

hmm...if you wanted something to take to the streets then howcome you didn't just get a 6spd? Im assuming your 06 is an automatic also...why have 2 automatics? Anyway, thats your decision. IMO, the best performance mods would either be headers or a y-pipe. Stick to Cattman. Thats one of the best brands for our maximas. enjoy the car.

No I have yet to dyno, I have been waiting to do that till I go in for A/F tuning... And since I drive my car about once a month, it is not a big priority for me right now... I might do it next summer.

I was talking around 20 whp w/some tuning. In my books, that's pretty substantial for a bolt-on mod. The stillen headers provide maybe 5 whp gains at best. I've read enough threads about headers to know about how much more power is gained with the Cattman/Hotshot headers.

You have to donate...

The fact that you don't know that and that you buying Stillen headers shows just hows how little you have looked around this forum for info.

Donate and search, THAT is the best thing you can do for your Maxima.

its more then 20 whp with tuning. thats a no brainer.
dont get a y-pipe. it will provide gains but not even close to what headers will give. if you really love your maxima you can spend about $800 if i am correct on teh cattman headers or you can spend $550 shipped to your door for the hotshot. ts your choice. both provide the same gains and both are great products.

Y-pipe on a 2k2 = usless, on a 3.0L much better, as said before Cattman or Hotshot headers, a SS catback, and intake.

Money no Object....

Get a fully built tranny by NRH transmissions, which come with a warranty that if they break while your pushing less than 500whp they will fix it for free (now thats impressive) They also add a LSD.

Then get the engine sleeved with darton sleeves bored .40 over and a built bottom end. Spray a big shot on the thing and get it built and tuned by a professional. With some weight reductions a high stall and wrinkle walls you could run 10s.

Now get goin!

This thread has no use. Most info on here doesnt even pertain to the subject matter. Also all this info is subjective. Just delete and research here tons of info.

Noooo....you all have it wrong. If money is no option, get something faster/better than a Max. Start from there, then mod.
