ATTN: 6m/t owners...My dilemma...
Well, the mileage on my car is 49,500, so lets make it 50k. Its a 6spd m/t and the tranny fluid was NEVER changed...the previous owner said he heard if you change it, it will never drive the same again (meaning in a bad sense). So I just recently got the car last month and I wanna do the MTF flush and put some new fluid. My mechanic said he will use MT90, by redline I think.
Will using this instead of the OEM tranny oil void the factory on the transmission? I know service techs give you so much crap and if I ever have a problem with the tranny, I dont want them to say they wont cover it under warranty b/c I used non-oem tranny fluid..
What can I expect when I get the new MTF put in? Tons of improvement in shifting? The last owner really scared me when he said it will never drive the same again if you change it. Plus, there always that old saying "if it aint broken, dont fix it"...then again, its been 50k miles with the same oil.

Ask the dealer about the warranty and different fluids. They should be the experts on that. Possibly contact them by e-mail so you have a record of whay you were told by saving their responce.
I use the MT90 in my tranny and it shifts fine. My tranny has about the same miles yours. I put it in my old tranny and didn't really see much improvement. It had the 3rd gear grind pretty bad so it might have been too late for just a different fluid to help.
50k isn't too bad on the same fluid but I'd go ahead and change it. "if it aint broken, dont fix it" doesn't apply to fluid changes in cars. If you don't do your fluid changes it will end up "broke" and then you'll have to "fix it".

Nissan also offers a synthetic gear oil, you are not getting transmission fluid ( that's for Automatics) you need gear oil. Redline MT90 is hugely popular, I chose to change my MT90 for the Nissan factory synthetic just so I wouldn't have any dealer hassles if I had any warranty claims down the line, not that you should with the MT90 in there but I always think the dealer will always look for any excuse to take the blame away from thier product failing even though they will do the warranty work. Just my 2 cents, but either way fluids are meant to be changed, you will notice a difference I'm sure, good luck.

BTW, this isn't something you need a mechanic for unless you just don't want to touch the car at all. It's no more complex than an oil change. Just dump the old fluid out and add the new. You can't even overfill it like you can with oil. Check the "how to" stickies for instructions.
I'm not saying there's anything wrong with not working on your own car. Just that if you were interested in it this is an easy project to start with.

redline mt90 is a synthetic lubricant. imo, you will not be able to tell the difference between nissan oem syn***ic tranny fluid and mt90. i beleive oem viscocity is 75 or 80. mt90 exceeds these specs by a little bit, so it's not going to be worse. the tranny will shift smoother because the fluid is brand new, plus it's syn***ic.

I just swapped my fluid @ 56k, bought the car with 41k, with Specialty Formulations MTL-P. In the beginning, didn't notice much of a difference. Now it does feel a little bit smoother and firmer. Not a night and day, because I have the ES bushings on it already. Anyways, there were no negative effects. Personally, I don't have the 3rd gear grind like most 6-speeds do, so I hope I shouldn't have to have tranny work done. IF I do, I will probably flush it out and put some Nissan Synthetic to see if that helps and take it to the dealer. I only have 4k left on my powertrain anyways.
