Testing Your VIAS

I'm wondering about mine, I think it works, at times I don't think it does. Just weird.

I read in the write up's there is a way to disable itso I can go for a drive to see if I fell any differences. How do I go about this? Or should I just pop the hood and pull the throttle and see if the valve moves?

If it's anything like the A33B, disconnect either a vac line going to the solenoid, or an electrical connector going to the same solenoid.

the valve outside may move, but the inside valve may be broken off....you can't tell by looking outside, unfortunately.

Dude, I am pretty sure yours is functioning. When we took that run, I saw your rpms clime rapidly from the 5k mark, where as mie was very sluggish from that point. VIAS should be fixed this weekend...yay.

I still want to check it. I'd rather still secure the cup in there with some JB to ensure it doesn't go as my car is at 196,000kms at it is still held in from the assembly line in Nov 99

The best way to check is if your engine tone changes (the engine begins to scream) past 4900/5000RPMs. If you notice your engine sounds higher pitched and louder then your VIAS is fine.

unless the power valve broke in the open position which would hamper low/midrange torque. just for note, my vias sounded fine after 5k but was broken in the closed position. the best way to tell is to open it up or get a dyno.

Its not that noticeable though, well sometimes. I thought mine wasnt working then it was real quiet windows closed and i wound out 3rd gear and heard the tone change when it hit about 5k. The QR25 its really noticeable, if u can hear an altima even an auto thats what it sounds like
