locking wheel to left, I hear a "crunch" noise...wtf?
Well, any time I lock the wheel all the way to the left, and especially if I hit a little bump driving slowly, I hear a "crunch" coming from the front end of the car. It sounds like something split in half or something to that effect. My first thought was that it may be the axle...however I checked both sides and the boots appear fine with no leaking. What do you guys think could be causing this?
It could be either your axle or the "steering" bump stops. (hard to tell from your description)
Take a look behind you front wheel, you should see a metal rod which is about 3 inches long that points to the side. Make sure that the plastic cap at the end of that rod is not worn and and that there is some grease on the cap. When you crank your steering wheel all the way to the side, the rod hits another metal piece which causes a loud metal on metal "scratching" noise if the cap is worn or there's no grease on the cap.

I had this issue last year. Had it repaired at Brampton North, was not an expensive repair at all. In all honesty I forget what it was (I guess since it was not an expensive repair).
