Help,

Ok Stillen says they will not sell one to me because of my auto trans.
:<
We have some people here with them up and running.
What is needed to make this work?
Will this set up be as reliable as my car is now?
What do you have to mod to make the unit fit?
Last but not least where do you get the metal pully instead of the plastic p.o.s.?
Thank you,
Fast Walker

Tell them you have a 5 speed and they should sell it to you. At the very minimum, get the VB recalibrated and get a tranny cooler. You will need some custom intake work to make the SC air intake fit since the auto tranny takes up the space.

Hey Fast Walker, I think if you have an auto and want to buy an SC it's defenitely cuz you want more HP so you will hopefully race with others and perhaps you will push the Max to it's limit sometimes if not often.

Well, as UMD_MaxSE said it, you need to have some work done on your tranny, VB recalibrated & tranny cooler is the minimum required, then If you want to unleash the SC hp after I think a ProTorque or Level 10 converter is a must, ask DMan_2KMax he has one of them, use the search engine there are few threads about it. ( cant remember their www adress)

I dont know for sure if you can fit a Place racing CAI with an SC, but that's the intake I would think of. What about the handling ? FSB & RSB, new shocks or coilover, lower spring and better tire than the original Potenza Re92 and new wider rim to get 245 or 255, then bigger Brakes. I almost forgot the ECU, this is the brain of the max so there must be something to be done there.

To answer your question:

1- First you lie about your auto and if they ever ask for your Max serial number, to verify with Nissan if it's an auto( supposing they do so ) then you just go to a dealer ( not in your area,he he ) ask the salesman to show you a Max with a stick in the show room and right down or memorise the serial number discreatly and then do what you have to do.

2- For this one you just need a lot of cash or a credit card
with funds. You also need skills in mechanics and tools if
you intend to do some of the works yourself and patience
cuz u never did it before and you will have fitting
cutting or grinding to do, otherwise you
need a trustable and a good reputation mechanics and
preferably a guy that already successfully installed a
Stillen SC on a Max and ask for proof.

3- I think adding an SC without making other important mods
to your tranny will make it less reliable cuz with the SC
it is going to be like a drug, your going to use it all
the time and then blow your tranny.

4- Dont know for sure since I never installed one myself.

5- What do you mean by metal pully ?

Cheers

You meant the VIN numbers?? why would stillen do that???the warranty is only for one year and after that it's over even you have problems!

there has been a discussion in general forum, go check it out, so far there is only one post that has positive feeback, the rest are negatives. That makes ppl rethink about getting a SC for max---espeically Automajic tranny maxs!

Can you say headache on the way! Make sure you have a really good mechanic and AAA card ready, if do decide to get one!

Try purchasing the S/C from Avalon Racing. Maybe you won't have a problem getting it from them, and they might give you advice on what to modify when installing the kit. And I think it is cheaper to get it there than from Stillen.

Contact DMan_2KMax, he has a supercharged auto maxima. He was the first one to order it from Stillen and Stillen didn't know that their supercharger wouldn't fit the auto ones so they sold it to him with no problem.

Was there any problem installing it?
What exactly is involved in installing it?
Did you need to modify anything to the car (Besides vb mod and trans cooler), Or did it just bolt right on?
I am near chicago does anyone know a place that could handle the install?
Anything else i should know?
Thanks,
Fast Walker

1. I havn't put it on yet.
2. Mostly bolt on whole saw bottom of the car for the piping to put the filter under thats where the shop will have to mod the piping to go aroudn the tranny.
3.above
4.don't know anybody in chi town
5.I talked to stillen tech guys directly about it there not gonna back it up(cuz they don't back up anytthing) but they feel it will work fine. As soon as you mod it warrenty is gone but they don't back warrentys anyway. Make sure a good mechanic does it not a chop shop pay a little and your'll get a little. Pay more and get more. Deal with a good reputable shop that does what it takes to make sh*t work.
as far as not telling them it's auto i told them the truth it's auto and i got it all taken care of they don't care they just want the money
anything else let me know.

Am I wrong? It was my understanding that you take a whole saw to cut out a whole to place the piping down to the filter to place the filter under the car slightly to get cooler air and that was the big change from the old sc where they just put the filter rite on the blower. But if I'm wrong tell me. Sometimes I'm wrong it don't happen often but it does happen.but really i'm not an installer so let me know.

My concern is what extra stresses/wear a turbocharger will put on the engine
