Car stalling in neutral, any ideas

I have a 2000 5 spd max and lately the car has been stalling when I come to a stop. I hate down shifting when I slow down, but it seems like that what I have to do to keep the thing from stalling. Sometimes that doesn't even help. It's kind of embarassing. People might think I don't know how to drive a standard! haha. I know I need three knew coil packs, but this hasn't caused a problem in the past. Injectors? MAF? any ideas. The air filter was just replaced too, so I know it's not that. It was stalling before the air filter, so that didn't cause the MAF to go, but who knows, the dirty filter might have done it. Any help at all would be great. I know there are some knowledgeable maxima enthusiasts out there with some ideas.
Thanks again guys.

I've seen this problem before in a 2001 Max. Would stall when going around turns with the clutch held down and while coming to a stop. I don't believe it really stalled while at a stand still idle, however, it did have a habbit of dipping the RPMs low and then recovering to idle speed.

Changed the MAF, cleaned the throttle body and IACV.
Seemed to do the trick. I would recommend the latter before spending the $ on a MAF, unless you are experiencing other symptoms typical of a failing MAF sensor.

uuugh this is what my car is doing i dont want to fork the money for the maf. plus coil pack four is hitting fault every other week. i'm saving up for new coil packs and plugs after i change them if it goes away i'll let you know. but when mine does this problem its usually if soon after start up i drove it agressive then whenever i push the clutch down and am approaching a stop it dies but once again putting it in gear with the clutch still engaged usually saves it. i ussualy go for second gear glides in smoother

Exact same symptons man. I'm gonna try cleaning the throttle body first. I doubt it will work, but who knows. It's all I can do at the moment.

I had similar problems and i changed my MAF and cleaned the throttle body and the low idling and almost stalling stopped. It wont hurt to try except the MAF was like 100 bucks i think.

Its gotta be the MAF...
It happened to my '02 Max, Good thing the A/M warranty kicked in to cover it.. Atleast yours in only around $100 compared to the $450+ for the 02-03s

the iacv id underneath the tb, held together by 4 small and one long screw, becausefull they srrip very easy, and be sure to get a new gasket when reassembling. just take it all apart, u can use brakleen on it, remember the position of everything, especially the TPS (making a mark is recomended).

That doesn't clean the throttle body as far as I've read.

if you are using this "seafoam" agent in your brake booster vacuum line, why not just use ATF? ATF has soap additives and will clean everything nicely

but.. super6, got pics? or anyone else for IAC removal

Sigh I cleaned my IACV yesterday that was real PITA. For those who' gonna attempt to clean it, use screw gun with flat bit to deal with those screws.
BTW super6 where do you get new gasket? I've cleaned my IACV but situtation didn't change. When I start engine in the morning car stalls and i have to pinch and hold pedal for a while. Does anyone know what a problem could be in my case?
