Welcome me to the family

Man-O-Man,
After 8 years of rockin a 93 Altima GXE I finally got my stuff together and upgraded to a Maxima. I've been wanting one since 99 but was never in a position to make it happen. So finally after all this time I was able to buy one but only wanted a SE Manual. In this area thats like finding a needle in a haystack. I found two on autotrader, an 04 in San Jose, CA and a 02 in San Francisco. I checked both out and although I liked the 04, I thought the 02 was a better value as well as prefering the interior/exterior a bit more. So now I'm the proud owner of an 02 SE. I couldn't sleep that night. Anyhow I tried modding my altima, put on a short air intake, dropping it 2 inches, indiglo dash, etc. I realized two things:
1. Modding is really expensive
2. Modding is a lot of hard work that I don't think is necessary for me to take on.

That said I'm only planning on putting a tint on it. Reading these pages temp me to do more but honestly, I enjoy the car so much I'll probably resist temptation.

Anyhow as a long time fan of the Maxima I'm happy to be an owner, finally.

I've had mine for two years, and it still puts a smile on my face when I use those two outer pedals

No they're 18 inch Zenetti Mystic on Ventus HRII H405 Tires.
They came with the purchase. I originally didn't like them but they've grown on me. I hate the gap but after enduring a bumpy ride on my dropped altima, I'm hesitant to get rid of the gap again.

Man, you read my mind. Part of my hesitancy was that I really wanted either the silver or black tail lights. So one thing I will do is replace those tailights.
I'll search the forums but off the top of anyone's head, does anyone have any idea how much work goes into a swap like that?

EDIT: Any idea where to begin looking for the black se tail lights? I'm starting @ eBay. From there...

congrats... had my car for just about 2 months now. Already have a strut bar, intake, ss braided clutch line, shifter bushings kit, free short shifter, aluminum pedals, and front sway bar bushings. Next will be rear sway bar, front end links, ss braided brake lines, new pads and rotors.

Got any pictures?

I would've been willing to drive out there to get a black SE but like I said earlier I couldn't find anything. I had contacted dealers from San Jose out to Lake Tahoe and only came up with 3 hits.

Anyhow I'm interested in seeing pics of yours. Got a link to your thread?

The swap is pretty easy. No splicing or modifying anything. As long as you get the harnesses with the lights it's plug and play. Your best bet is to find someone here who wants to swap for yours. You could try the regional forums as well. It's something you could do in a parking lot with both cars there.

i bought mine from that place. shipping was pretty fast too. and they are new tyc brand but looks oem. fits perfectly and so far so good. i also had to buy a 00-01 wiring harness from the dealer that was like 30 bucks or so. good luck and post up pics after

btw hardest part was getting it out. i had to sit in the trunk and use my feet to push the lights out cuz it's so stuck haha. do it under the hot sun will help too

It's probably that reflective tint, if so, my money's on him removing that tint, and installing whatever tint is desired.

When I first saw the picture I thought the same thing. But after talking to the dealer they assured me that it wasn't the privacy glass and emailed pictures proving it. I'm thinking that these pictures were taken in the morning and it was either condensation or a early morning sun rise reflection. But to answer the question the windows are transparent all around.

As far as $, I paid $15K. It picked up a 4 year/100K warranty. After taxes/registration etc I walked out paying almost 19K.
Mileage is 47,000

I did something similar on my 93 Altima. That goop is a pain to get off. Funny thing (keep in mind this was my first experience doing this), when I installed my new tail lights (which were simply 93 Altima SE lights) I didn't reapply the sealant so when it rained, my car had a little lake inside and my trunk was a joke. Mistake made, lesson learned...
That was about 4 years ago so if I were to do it again I'd have to read up and make sure I'm doing it correctly again.
