NOISE coming front right front wheel well..help!

Whats up everyone. Long time since i have posted. I haven't made anymore mods to my car (75 k miles on it now), but now for some reason im getting a noise from my right front wheel well.

It usually makes the noise right when i begin driving the car after it's been sitting. It sounds like a clicking noise, maybe noise caused by metal, but i am certain it isn't the tire rubbing against the fender. Could it be something with the wheel brearings or something connected to the steering column behind the brakes?...Anybody have any experience with a similar noise from the wheel well?

I have JIC's and i checked them and they seem to be intact. i dunno what it could be, but its ANNOYING...

Of course there are wheel bearings, but, they would be making a groaning, clunking noise most of the time. I would look at your CV halfshaft. They making clicking noises when moving.

check the cv boots on the axle. if the outer cv boot is torn, you will usually see green/gray thick grease on teh inside of your rim.
if the inner cv boot is torn, you may see grease splattered near the boot too.

Is the noise only when you begin to drive or even after you've been going for a while?

Well i checked and didnt see any grease that had splattered onto my rim so i don't think it's the cv boots.

The noise happens after i start driving and continues while im driving and it only comes from the right front wheel well. It's very random...sometimes i'll hear it and sometimes i don't. It sounds almost like metal to metal contact or some sort of clanking/squeaking...its soo annoying. I do not think its the tire, but im not sure what else it could be.

Does ANYONE have any suggestions or ideas or experiences with any noises coming from the wheell well???... any help would be greatly appreciated...

have you raised the car up and just tried spinning the wheel to see if you can hear it? Could it be the plate behind the brake rotor? sometimes if you go through heavy water or something it will get bent in and just brush as the wheel spins or in turns etc.

Check out the 1 1/4 nut that holds the whole wheel bearing/rotor in place. I was having problems with clunking/grinding/you name it. The more I drove the car the worse it got. It turns out that the nut ended up backing out and all I had to do is retighten it and put some loctite on it.

Check with the dealer because there's recall for some 2001 maxima for the noise coming from the right front wheel area. I cannot remember specifically what they were, right away, but I am sure there were two recalls for some 2001 maxima. Before you call the dealer get your VIN # handy, they will ask you. Good Luck....

'02 SE, 91k mi. I have the same issue and just had my brakes done. This pretty much confirms that they probably didn't tighten something completely... so I'm taking my car back in. I'll let you guys know what I find out.

Hi, I am having the same problem you described. Ive had a vibration for a while and went in to Walmart to get my tires balanced (thinking that was the problem) and the guy said the rotor was loose so he tightened it. I drove off and it was fine for a day and then it came back. I figure this is something i can probably do my self ...but im the kinda person who needs step by step instructions ...can you help?
Heres what i gather so far:
1. loosen lugs
2. jack car
3. remove lugs, remove wheel
4. i guess the nut in the middle of the rotor is what im after? a 1 1/4 inch wrench ought to do it? how do i use the loctite?

your help is very appreciated.
