Driver side heated front seat question
Driver side heated front seat question
I have a 2002 SE with heated front seats. The problem is that the driver's side does not come on anymore, but the passenger side does. My question is whether or not there are any other fuses controlling the seats besides the 10A one in the inside fuse panel at position #9. I do not believe there are any, but I thought I should ask in order to verify. That fuse is not blown, so I have a feeling it's just the toggle switch. If it is the only issue, how involved is the removal of the center console? It it is not too bad, I will swap the switches until I can get a replacement part. Otherwise I will wait to get the part first. Please advise as the weather here in the midwest is starting to get a bit chilly. Thanks in advance!!
i have an '01, I turned my seats heaters on and on the driver's side, my back warmed up but the bottom did not. the picture on the switch shows that the bottom is suppose to warm up not the back part. and on the passengers side it warms up on the bottom.
Thank you all for the replies. Unfortunately I pulled one of the major newbie no-no's one should not do before posting a thread: always always ALWAYS fully troubleshoot and never assume. Note to self - just because the light is out, it doesn't always mean a feature is not working. I was able to enjoy a nice comfortable ride on my way into work this morning after all, even with the lovely traffic issues.
Hrmmm...I wonder if I'm daring enough to rip out the center console and the switches to replace the bulbs with LED's ala MetalMaxima-style. Let me think about that one for a second...uuummmmmNOPE!!! (
to MetalMaxima however!)
Anyway, my apologies to the forum. Moderators, feel free to remove this thread if you like.
To asianstyle - I am assuming your car has the same toggle switch as mine (I didn't have heated seats in my '00). According to the ['02] owner's manual, the picture on the switch does not relate to the bottom or the back. Instead, the "fatter" line on the front side of the car means High while the "thinner" line on the back side means Low.

Hey, the driver side seat hasn't worked in my 2000 I30 for two years. The light is fine, so I suspect it is a bad heating coil.
Don't want to spend $600 to fix it!!!!!!
Any suggestions on doing the repair yourself? Any other options/ideas?

my solution was simply to buy a new set of seats
it was an upgrade and a lot less than $600

huahauhauah
I have the same problem:
drivers seat: back heat only
passenger seat: butt heat only.
Now, I dont care much about the passenger seats... so is there anyway I can swap the butt heater coil from the passenger to the drivers seat?
Anyone knows anything about that?
Thanks!
heated seats
I installed a set of aftermarket seat heaters in my truck.. They work great and get really hot on high.
The install required removal of the seats from the car but if your creative you can do a couple of tricks to minimize the job.
My seats cam apart easily since the they used plastic clips to hold the fabric to the seat cushion. So I only lifted the fabric enough to slide the heating elements into place (then I applied pressure to activate heater element adhesive-two sided tape). I ran the wires so as not to get pinched into center console and then ran a wire to the power source. (I had to run power from the heating elements to a fuseable link in my fuse box.)
Cant find the info, but the web site seemed to have ford cars and he did have a ebay store. I think it was -seat heater kits
I went with these after some research, these had a two position switch with a light for low/high, and the rep was very helpful.
