dde owners, how cold for pink eye

i just finally finished my headlights, i blacked out eveyrhting using flat black, wanted to try something a lil different, i really like how they turned out, ill get soem pics when i get a chance. very stockish but not boring grey. anyway i installed my ddes, as well, no problems with install except that the rings seemed to be different shapes than the headlights, but i got them to fit as well as i could without bending or breaking. i wa beyond careful when installing, even cut a slot so the wires were run thru the housing, so as to not ge pulled.

so i got eveyrhting installed in a garage, prob about 60 degrees, and hooked everything up, got a pink eye so i played with the wiring, and it went away. then i went and turned the on when it was like 35degrees out and i had three pink eyes, i turned them off right away out of anger and i was wasnt in the mod to work on them. so i go out today and turn them on, same three pink eyes, i go to get my tools and when i come back all 4 rings were perfectly fine, do they normaly need to warm up? it was 40degrees out.

is there a temp where they stop working, i was warned that they dont like cold weather, my max goes away for the winter, i just wanted to get my headlights blacked out b4 i stored the car.

thanks all for input.

had the pink eye problem too, I thought it was a bad connection, so I ended up cutting some wires and re connectined with butt splices, but yeah it's the cold that does it.

I am also putting mine away for winter, so I won't worry about it.

My DDE's already survived one winter with the previous owner. And that was a MA winter. I'm hoping the car treats me good this winter too. So far the few cold days we've had I didn't see the pink eye problem.

I drove my car year round and they were fine. Make sure you seal the ballasts so that water doesn't get inside. That was the only problem i had

i rewired the ddes, the stock connectors werent workign well, now everythings alright, soemtime si get a lil pink eye but they warm up and then they work just fine.

stardust. the flat black look is awesome imo. did the housings just peel apart with no effort when u cleared them, cause thy did when i pulled them apart, way easier than the last 2 sets of 00/01s i did. sadly i cracked a tab when putting them back in,tightend too much i guess, guess its a good thing i never plan on selling them.

sorry no pics yet, its still really crappy outside.

i have the pink eye issue... wat u can do is turn on ur headlights with the highbeams on... and then start up ur ddes... that way the heat from the high can and will warm up ur ddes.... worked for me i went throo 2 winters with them and i haven't had any problems knock on wood
