Bad PIAA Super Plasma GTX Bulbs?

Today, it was cold so I remote started my max, as I walking out noticed that my left fog light is out. When I looked closer, found out that the whole fog light enclosure had moisture everywhere inside of it, my fog lights have been long since cracked, but with 3M clear bra stuff over them. Did the moisture cause these bubls to go out after only 1 year? Or do they just suck? Also, replacement ideas would be cool too...thanks!

nope, the bulbs run so hot they destroyed your housings actually...

piaa's plus stock houseing = bad thing

(the bulbs created so much heat it cracked your housing...let in moisture...and poof...no more lamps)

My PIAA's blew after only a few months inside good housings. Same bulb as yours. I was actually sitting in my car and could see the reflection of them in anothers cars paint and watched the passenger side go out. And then seconds later...drivers side, in tandem, just like that. crazy.... Anyways I replaced with Sylvania's and have been happy since.

My fog light housing was cracked when I bought the car in July of 05. But the cracks have gotten bigger since I put the PIAAs in. Should I get new housings that aren't cracked? Will the cracked ones ruin the new bulbs the same way they ruined these?

Probably...moisture and electronics don't mix. I would definetly opt. for the new housings and then some HID fogs. But if you are like me and can't blow that much on the fogs than get some sylvanias and call it a day. I thought the silverstars were just cheap local discount auto bulbs when I was cool with my PIAA's until I figured out that I got worked paying almost double for a set of the same color bulbs that burned so quick. Very happy with the trip to Pep Boy's now though. Silverstar fogs FTW even if they don't match your 6000K Helios Bi-Xenon HID's with one burned out bulb that is still in the now 9 month warranty process from maximabest. sorry for whoring and venting.

My PIAA Super Plasmas lasted about 8 months and went out within days of each other. Housings were ok (no moisture). Heat ought not be a problem if you get the OEM wattage (55 watts IIRC).

I have a 01 max, I want to get new bulbs, not a complete HID kit. What are the best bulbs to get the white/blue look out of my headlights and fog lights?

Thanks in advance.

I've put a pair of Silverstars in my last three cars (even bought a pair for my mom's car), and I currently have a pair in my 2k2 (high beams). I've never had a problem with them at all, and when my fogs go out, that's what I'll be replacing them with.

The bulbs are just crap....I had PIAA Super Plasma GT-X "Spark Blue" (7500K color temp) in my projectors for 6 monthes...then one blew...those PIAA bulbs give the BEST color by far (more blue than my current 7500K HID kit actually)...but the DONT last long.

For replacement try Nokya bulbs....they make one rated at a 7000K color temp (not actually that temp but the color of the light is roughly equivalent) and it has a really nice color...I have it in my 4th gen and I'd say its the best color for the price, around $20-25
