Final exhaust video. stock everything, CATTMAN GEN 1 only. calling puppetmaster
LINK TO EXHAUST CLIP
So before I go completely bone stock, I decided to film my final exhaust clip....the difference between my last exhaust clip and this one are the following..
-My 1st video includes Berk Intake/Cattman Header/test pipe/Cattman Catback
-My 2nd video includes Berk Intake/Cattman Header/test pipe/Cattman bpipe/stock rear
-My final video is stock everything
...only headers...and this includes the stock cat, intake, catback
Just wanted to give you a taste of what HEADERS ONLY sound like on a vq35 max...I"m sure a few of you are interested in knowing how this sounds...and possibly some might go this route, but would like to get a taste before making the move
I recently sold my test pipe...and headers are the only thing aftermarket on my ride...the sound has become less raspy ever since putting my stock cat on...even with stock everything else, I am STILL impressed with the huge gains in power that the header gives...my car is still very silent at start up and EVEN WOT runs...well, it does give some growl over stock at WOT...but very quiet nevertheless…I believe this plus the GAB, is the ultimate setup for the maxima…in terms of price to HP ratio…I’m well into the 100mph traps in the quarter mile with just the header…and I’m still able to retain the quietness of how the maxima was originally designed to be
For any VQ35’s out there looking for huge gains with a moderate amount of money, definitely get headers..

Sound is less amplified. Less raspiness due to the test and the Cattman b-pipe. Can't go wrong with headers and b-pipe for sure... it's muffled so well with stock muffler, for those looking into it.

Response as follows:
"As has been noted, the new ones are generally modelled after the prior set, which were well tested (roughly 18-22whp on a VQ30, 22-25whp on a VQ35), but we hope to do a little better with some small design changes to the 3-1 and 2-1 collectors, tube alignment, etc.
IMHO, the only way to reliably check the performance of a new part is to do the before and after dyno runs within 24 hours, in similar weather conditions, same tank of fuel, using the same dyno and technician, but my circumstances didn't allow that when we put on the first production set on my car.
No doubt that they'll be tested soon by customers, and I look forward to hearing some numbers. I may do some runs for fun, just to see what I'm making at that moment, but they won't be comparable to runs I did last year when the gen2 s/s headers were being tested.
I can say that what I consider to be a fairly accurate butt dyno showed a major performance boost over the original NZ header set that I took off to put these on. It sort of caught me off guard; it just didn't seem like the gen2 stainless headers made as much of a difference, but that's too subjective to make any claims.
BTW, the NZ header set I just took off my car is in great condition (ceramic-coated carbon steel) and is a good buy @ $499. Because ceramic coating is neither bullitproof or forever, these should be installed somewhere with mild winters. Check the Cattman Weekly Sale ad in the GD forum if interested."

I manage to get on his first batch list, and I can't wait to have them installed and tune. I changed my injen intake and greddy catback to a Berk intake and cattman. I hope to see better results in when dyno.
