microfilter

you know those home air filtration devices?? like the ones that you plug in the wall and just put it anywhere in a room? inside those theres a slide in filter with a carbon filter and one of those paper or what ever filters on the other side (hepa filter) it's the same thing, except it goes in your car behind the glove compartment behind the dash. you can get them at the dealership i think it was 20 bux or something i forgot. and installation was cheap. but i forgot how much too.hahah my maxima journal is back home in the US. so i can check right now sorrie.

Well...

the warranty is pricey and covers very little. Radio, brakes and rattle are not covered under the nissan gold warranty (the best they offer) as I remember reading. I have it, alot of exclusions! And I have NEVER gotten a damn rental car from them.. always excuses.

The Tranny and Engine are covered to 5yr/50K anyway under the normal warranty. maybe that will give you alittle more piece of mind. I feel alittle cheated on my extended warranty after I saw the exclusion list. I thought about a refund, but havent bother to follow that up.

If the extended warranty is "bumper to bumper" than maybe it would be worth it. If it's just powertrain, skip it. The things that will end up breaking on a Maxima almost never fall under the powertrain warranty (which covers engine and transmission only).

Common problems on the 4th gens (similar to 5th gen) include:

-Oxygen sensors
-Starters
-Alternators
-Fuel pumps

None of those are covered by a powertrain warranty. If the extended warranty is just powertrain only, then about the only advantage is a free rental car.

thanx to all

thanx for the replies. well i can see that it's really worth it to pay extra for something that can be barely used. i also came to think of it that i'd probably void all the warranties before the extended warranty ends.

For me it's been the opposite. I purchase an extended warranty for by 00 GXE with 2500 miles left on the warranty. I had my left strut replaces and then within 2 weeks I had my rear axle assemble completely replaces it was linking the fluid at the arms or whatever you call it...I'm not up on part names. And now this past weekend with 150 miles left on the warranty I took it in for a whining noise on acceleration and found out it needs a new idle pulley also covered by my warranty. This is the second time in my car buying history (I purchase 3 brand new) where the warranty was worth the money. But it's the law of averages...on the average most people do not get to use their policies because the companies exclude soooo many parts or systems from their approved list. I was just blessed this time.
