Yesterday, the Battery died, so replaced immidiately....
Today, my car don't even start.. when i turn the key, it doesnt even crank...
and few hours later i came back to the car, IT STARTS......
my friend took a look at it and found that almost 70% of the time when the car starts, it makes a metal knockin sound... like "DA"...
just wondering if anyone have this kind of problem?
now here goes my starter... i ordered a Bosch remanufactor starter for 199 plus 30% discount from lordcal... just wondering anyway one have pic and how-tos for replacing it?
thanx for the help...

Are you sure the battery connections are clean and tight although it does sound like the starter? The starter change is no big deal. Gain access by removing intake scoop and ducting to the filter housing. Disconnect BOTH battery connections unless you want to become an arc welder. The starter has one electrical connector and the heavy pos. battery cable to disconnect, then two attach bolts. I don't like the sound of the engine knock on start. What oil are you using. Checked the oil level recently? Is the oil pressure light going out at the same time the knock disappears? Did it start the knocking at the same time as our cooler weather?
I am using XD-3 0w-30
i am really want to find out what caused that knock....
it was there when i was using Mobil 1 5w-30...
Battery connection i good, i am pretty sure of that... i do tighten the bolt up everytime when i disconnect my battery....
so u think that the engine oil can cause that knock?
but the knock only exist at the moment i crank start my car....

Yes, 92 Chervon is always for my max... sometimes esso...(when i need a touchless car wash...)
the knock is only when i crank my car... it happens anytime when it wanted...
not when driving....
how can i check the fueal pressure? we don't have gauges like those american cars...
Anyway... got the starter for around 170CDN after tax, and did it my self, so saved the labour... just dont want to pay $400 for that kinda job... it's a bosch remanufacture, but looks exactly like new to me... now the car starts like a charm ^^ finally....

So what your saying is the knock was only during cranking and is gone now that you've replaced the starter? You require a special test adaptor that is installed at the location of the fuel pressure regulator to be able to intall a pressure gauge for test purposes. (per the FSM) Why do you want to check the F.P.? I know of no car that has a standard F.P. gauge in the "cockpit".
sry i misread the thread... the oil pressure light looks normal..
and havent had any knock since i install the starter today, i will see how it goes in the future.

Sorry, I didn't twig that you meant oil pressure. Yes, oil pressure gauges are definitely useful. I had a previous car (American) that had the gauge, an LOP light and a low quantity light. The gauge is useful for determining oil selection..... trial and error kind of thing. By the way......in our part of the world I would sure like to see you using a 10W-30 oil if you're using the car as a daily driver. Wide spread "low viscosity" (inc. syn.) oils make me extremely nervous especially if it happens to be a manual tranny car.
but on the oil section i only heard good thing about that oil... thats why i decided to give a try... and after i used it, i didnt feel any difference between mobil 1 5w-30 and 0w-30... and it only cost 5.30 included tax in here canada... so i started using it... u mean we should not use that?
