Ok so i simply took apart my cluster to see how i could make it brighter. i put it back together all the clusters work except speedodometer and the lovely CHECK ENGINE light is on. I didn't caliberate it before taking apart cluster BUT i did not remove the needle i took out the motor from the green electronic plate but was unable and too scared ****less to remove the needles from the motors. I'm hoping that i can jus drive it around and it will automatically reset. BUT I'M NOT SURE!!! When i caliberate it after the fact the needle moves. But it doesn't reset it. PLEASE ANYONE I NEED HELP!!!

 

First, you need to pull the code and see what it is. It probably had nothing to do with you pulling the cluster out. Did you disconnect the battery before you pulled the cluster out? If so, you should be fine. If you don't want to know what tripped the CEL, just reset it and see if it comes back on. If it does, then there's something seriously going on that needs looked into.

 

yes it might be a coincident i would suggest pulling the codes so you know what trigged the light.

Edit* ok i can't find how to reset CEL and uhhh we don't have an Autozone in Hawaii.
SHould i go Checkers? or napa or redline?!?!

Car still has warrenties so i might end taking it back to the stealership.
I have to pay for the diagonis though.

I didn't remove the Negative terminal, and I remember trying to turn on the car without the clusters in, Might that have set it off? It still won't go off though. So idk what it could be.

 

Since you have a 2k, to reset the CEL, just unplug the battery for about 1/2-1 hr.

 

Well....i told my co-worker about my problem and he said to retighten my gas gasket first, which i did. About 50 miles later the light went off....WTF!?!? thanks for the help tho guys.

 

Ok so I have a very puzzling question. My speedometer constantly reads 15 over, except when my car is off. I have no idea what is could be. Any help would be great. Thanks
