Best Option for Upgrading ECU on 03 Max

Alrite guys, I want to upgrade my ecu. I am a lil new to the maxima and I am considering a stage one vb mod but I also wanna do something with the ecu. What options do I have? Is there any obd2 plug and programmer thru the obd2 port or piggybacks, or chip? Anything give me some advice. Thanks

what do you want the ECU to do?
dont do something for the sake of doing something. decide on an outcome...then see if the ECU can be upgraded.
make sense?

I want it to do what a chip or ecu reprogram would do on any car. Like increase timing, horsepower, gas mileage. And idk if its possible to do anything with shifting points or if ud have to get the vb mod. But generally what a chip would do for any auto.
