code P0171

I got this code pulled from auto zone yesterday bc my ses light was on and i think this is an o2 sensor problem i was just wondering if the maxima has 2 of them by the way i have a 2001 maxima se. Thanks in advance...

Dunno if codes from diff manufactures are the same.. but 0171 for ford Zetec is MAF all the way. And if you tell me you have an aftermarket cone filter great chances it is your maf.

No aftermarket cone the motor is stock the reaseon iam thinking its the o2 sensor is bc i do get a weird smell comming from the exhaust..

Ok so it says fuel injection system too lean could it be that i just have dirty injectors???

i am not sure it could be bad bank 1 sensor. wait for some other peoples replies. i dont have too much knowledge about this.

Autozone often pulls only 1 code when there are multiple. I bet you also have P0174 which is the other bank running lean. MAF is really the only problem that causes both sides to run lean. If in fact you have only 1 code (needs to be tested with ODB II), then start looking at O2 sensors or exhaust leaks. The possibility of both O2 sensors being out or both ehaust pipes having a leak is slim. I replaced my MAF last week when I realized I had both codes.

The MAF problem is common. I will never buy nissan again!
Toyota's are way better and are more dependable. since i bought the nissan i have spent around $2000 just on electronic stuff such as O2 sensors, Maf, Coils, Plugs etc. waiting for more stuf to go bad. i never had any problem with my 01 camry.

The code is only for bank 1 and its only P0171 so i think iam just going to changed the o2 sensors.. Does any one know how much they go for???

around $95 with connector. $45 without connector.
