Hid Conversion Kits Are Not-legit !?!?!
Hey guys, damn this server is slow, I was on the merge of ordering a hid conversion kit when my boy calls me up and sends me a link with some techy mombo-jumbo about how the HID conversion kits are not legit and why. For those who have gotten to know me on the board I'm a Maxima Fanatic who doesnt know jack, hehe. Well this site critisises the HID Conversion kits (800-1200) and the white bulbs and such, for those of you who have already seen this I appologize, again not triing to flame just thought it would be beneficial...

hope I've provided my share hehehe "probably" the only time lol...

As for the info on the HID conversion kits, they are old, and refer to the *********.com HID kit which one member of Maxima.org got stuck with. The kit required placing the HID Burner(Light Source) in the housing w/ SILICONE~! I saw the pictures of the kit, and even showed this particular member, that it was an imitation "philips" kit, and lots of words were exchanged w/ the seller, and he was turned off to HIDs.
As 2000MaximaSE, said above, the information is very inaccurate as HID kits have changed in the last 2 years since that article was written. I stumbled on that article about 3 years ago when Hyperwhites burned the crap out of my 96 Maximas wiring which required major harness replacement, and housing replacement. I got that article, and posted them in my shop, and I turned away from the Hyperwhites. I came around to realize that there were overwatted bulbs that cause these problems. I switched to hyperwhite 65/55W bulbs, and had no problems. I always had that link around to read about how PIAA marketting was misleading, and eventually I switched back to stock bulbs, and yellow ion bulbs. Over the last few years, I came upon a distributor in Germany who had retrofit Philips kits. I tried them out, and they were great. I realized that the cost of a "raw" kit was so much less than a "finished" kit, and I bought 100 or so, and made the halogen bulb "rings" to mount them in a halogen housing. They sold well, but soon I had gotten a few problems from Philips, and I had gotten a contract w/ Panasonic. They sent me a sample of a few HID burners, ballasts and starters. I eventually finished one kit, and tested it out. I read more about shielding and beam correction. I studied HID equipped cars, I have a few headlamp sets in my house from Acuras, Lexus, and BMW. I studied how HID light was sourced, and how it was put to the floor. I went through no less than 20 prototypes to get H1, H4, H7, 9004, 9006 housings. All of them having the light source, "bucket" placed where the light source of a halogen bulb would be. As I marketted the kits, they blew everything out of the water. It was amazing. The price was reasonable since the kits were in raw form, and the bases were injection molded from the same cermaic material as a halogen bulb, giving reliability, fit and finish. I have honestly sold over 200+ kits and more to "dealers." These HID kits, are excellent build, excellent light color, excellent intensity, and excellent price for them. Once you see them, you will be hooked on them. I've met up with several Maxima.org members to show them the HID kit, and they are amazed at how crisp everything becomes in front of the car. Dark sections of road lit up like no highbeam could accomplish. 2000MaximaSE was one of the first to get the Panasonic HID kits, and through a Master Dealer he is selling them on Maxima.org. As much as I have sold the HID branch of my company to another company, I still have excellent connections, and what you were told is true, however, the Panasonic kit is the answer to all the doubts that were stated in that article. They will outperform anything available in the USA. How do I know ? I've tested them all. I import so many HID kit samples just to compare against what I have. Some have come close, but don't have the consistent light color and intensity as the Panasonic does. Those that do exceed it are so expensive, upwards of $1000+, that it becomes unreasonable to sell them to the public, when there is an HID kit that is possibly the most comprehensive kit on the market containing all the mounting hardware needed, and a wiring harness designed to exact specifications to protect your electrical system, and provide you with flexibility for other lighting systems, and such. Those that have the kit, praise the brightness, and the appeal of color, and the "caught-you-looking" factor. So preach all you want, I have several customers on Maxima.org who will tell you in all honesty that the HID kit I mention above made by Panasonic, will put all your worries to rest, and you will enjoy them from the 5-10 minutes you spend to install the kit, til the sun goes down, and you turn them on. You'll be bragging to your friends, possibly pimp your car to the opposite sex, and who knows....LoL...
Seriously, question the HID retrofit....then see it....then judge for yourself....

Yo_Its_Ok, Are your kits modified from stock to work with the Maxima headlamp housing or was that only for the prototype kit? I'm just not sure how they compare to 2000MaximaSE's kits. Are they the same except for the $150 in price? 5-10 minutes sounds a little low for installation. I saw Adams' kit and it looked like it might take a little time. If you don't mind, could you basically explain what's involved to install these and how long the warrany is on the starters, bulbs, etc...
I have Hogan's (Yo_Its_Ok) kit installed. It took less then 1/2 hour. It would have been quicker but I was picky on where to run the wires.
The biggest decision you will have to make when installing the kit is where to mount the starter and ballast units. After they are mounted, just run the wires from these units to the HID bulbs, which fit right into the H4 housing. Another part of the wiring harness connects to the stock headlight wiring harness. Connect a power and ground and you are good to go! Yes, you do lose the high beams... but you won't need them anymore.
When I show them off to my friends, their first reaction is "damn those things look good!" The color is amazing.
Yes, the kit is a bit pricey, but well worth the investment. I met this guy with a Honda Accord the other day who paid $2000 for his HID kit. We parked next to each other to compare... let's just say he wasn't very happy with his kit after that. Hope this helps! Thanks again Hogan!
