Brake pads problem. Please help.

Hello guys! I heard some weird noise coming from the right rear everytime I hit the brake. Then I went to auto repair shop to check out the problem. The guy told me that the weird noise is caused by the aftermarket brake pad. He told me to change to brake pad to original Nissan one. He wanted to charge me 120 dollars for the rear pads. He said that may solve the weird noise problem. Any comments are welcome. Thank you.

Well, for $120 I'd want to know for certain, not "may solve the problem".

What kind of "weird noise" do you hear? Grinding, squealing, screeching, clunking, clanking, rattling?

Did your mechanic confirm that all the existing components are in proper order? Did he confirm that the pads aren't glazed, cracked or worn to the backing plate? Did he confirm that the rotors aren't grooved, cracked, chipped, past minimum thickness, or have excessive runout? Did he verify that all the lugs and lug nuts are there? Did he verify the lug nut torque? Where the pads installed with the backing clips and anti-squeal compound? Did he verify that the caliper is properly mounted and torqued? Did he verify that the caliper itself is functioning properly - the outboard side moves back and forth easily (the pins are properly greased)?

What brand kinds of pads? It is possible, although HIGHLY UNLIKELY, that the material in the pad is such that is creates a resonance with the rotor under braking. Typically, noise heard under braking are from other more common problems, such as worn/glazed pads, improper installation (no backing clips and/or no anti-squeal compound), glazed/cracked rotors, or frozen calipers.

If it were me, and I had to recommend a procedure without being able to know more, I think I'd recommend resurfacing the rotors and scuffing the pads first, prior to replacing the pads, presuming all the components are in decent condition. But, I'm just taking a swag.
