No pics to share, but I've been looking at same for my 2000 GLE and came up with the following combo as cleanest look:

Panasonic CQ-VD6503U with Scosche NN1494B trim kit.

HU is DDIN with touchscreen and DVD, so will fill up entire OE radio area. I haven't seen the fit/finish on the Scosche trim kit yet - have one on order - but expect it will be pretty good.

CQ-VD6503U for $699 at Crutchfield is best price I've seen so far. Trim kit about $15.

Interested in other ideas you might come up with.

TRIM KIT form scosche sucks and requires a bunch of trimming especially for a double din. GXE VENTILATOR ASSEMBLY FTW.

i dont like flip-up. to "showy" IMO. plus it blocks the vents
in dash has a more clean appearance.

Please explain "GXE VENTILATOR ASSEMBLY FTW." I don't understand what you mean, but your install looks awesome and I'd like to make mine look that good!

some say its crappy quality but I'm satisfied, the color match is exact and thats all that matters. Its not like it pops off when I drive or anything

cut the middle out, and shaved the top off a little with a kitchen knife because the screen would sometimes get stuck closing/opening on the top part.
Very nice and perfect fit other than that, no gaps

Will the CQ-VD6503U work with a Bose/Non-Nav Stereo setup? Crutchfield does not have it on the compatible list.

because its not a direct swap...pretty much any unit can be installed...you just need the mounting brackets/kit and knowledge

Is there any degradation in sound since OEM is the Bose unit? Any concerns (subwoofer won't work)?

burnurass,

Any tips/install instructions/parts? Looks like you used the:
http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchan...de=68750-VENTC

What navigation system is this?

The navigation system pictures is the ECLIPSE AVN6600.
it's a double din headunit and you reuse all your stock brackets.

Install tips/instructions....
Pretty much pull out the top vents on your car (it's a little stiff).

If you're asking for instructions for installing the radio...
Then you need to open your coin tray and take out the tray. There's a screw behind that...take that out.

pop off the trim around the shifter and disconnect the connectors for the cig. lighter and hazard switch

you'll see two screws near the bottom of the radio and two at the top...take those 4 out and the radio will be free.

Take out all the screws from the radio to take it off the bracket.

For your new headunit..you just line it up with the holes and mount them...

There's a write up if you search though...I just went over it real quickly.

Thanks burnurass.

Do your steering wheel buttons plug and play with the unit? Any wire tapping needed?

you need an adapter called the PAC SWI (Steering wheel interface) adapter....Generally the actual device most buy is the PAC SWI X...which uses a wireless signal to transmit back and fourth...picture a device connected to the back of your headunit, where the aftermarket control switch would normally go....and then the stock harness for your steering wheel controls is connected to the other side......i bought the PAC SWI PS...which is made for Sony and PIONEER HU's....(Hence the PS) i bought that one because the touchscreen double din headunit i want to get next is going to be made by pioneer...but take a look at the link below.....CRUTCHFIELD ALSO SELLS THE PAC adapters, if your skeptical of buying from ebay or something...BUT BELIEVE THEY OVER CHARGE

check this out:
http://www.pac-audio.com/products/pr...el%20Interface

P.S i bought mine off ebay....but PAC will not honor the warranty if something happens and needs to be send back to them..but hey, the hell with it, ill just buy another

So, what parts do I need to do this?

SWI-ECL
AVN-5500 kit(GPS antennae, DVD, etc)
2000-2003 Maxima Center Console Ventilator Assembly
Various Tools

Is that it? Is there a harness to go from the Bose speakers to the new unit? Do I need to splice any wires (speed sensor)?

Did you add some black trim-like plastic to the top or bottom of your dash kit to make it fit so well? It looks OEM

Is the speed pulse wire found behind the stereo on the 2002, or do I have to get behind the guage cluster?
