So I am really wanting to upgrade from my 95 to a 02 maxima soon. I want a black on black 6 speed. All I wanted to ask is what to look at when I am shopping for one. Like any problems under the hood and maybe the outside. Any and all info is appreciated.

 

do a search. The only two main causes of concern IMO are: 1.) several VQ35's have been documented to burn oil. A very small percentage, but still there nonetheless. 2.) 3rd gear synchros are very weak and most go out causing 3rd gear to grind during aggressive shifts. Not a problem that can keep the car from moving, but it is kind of annoying.
