Car flattens out at certain RPMs-no check engine!?

Alright guys...this is pathetic. 2000 Max SE with only 32,500 miles on it. My aunt drives it to drop off her kids at school, literally...and now its giving problems.

So, heres the deal. We had a few Ignition coil problems before, but that seemed to disappear. I took the car out today and it doesnt "gurrgle" as it shud be when u have ignition coil problems ( i had the problem on my 99 so i know how its like)

NOW, there is loss of performance, the car seems to be stuck at certain RPMS and seems to flatten out after a certain time, then i would punch it and all it will do is drop a gear and rpms go flying, but barely even any kick in the car.

The check engline light has disappeared for the ignition coils and there seems to be none for this mysterious problem. Took it to the dealer, he tried pulling codes when there was no check engline light, i told him it wudnt work, but he said it might be saved in memory, which obviously it wasnt....so i drove back home we no luck.

Now im pissed, can anyone help me out ?

I don't know what the details are since I have a 5.5 gen but I believe that you could have an issue with the intake system. VIAS is not working properly....

VIAS only really does anything over 5000rpm or thereabouts.. the car still has power before the vias does its job.

replace MAF? cleaning doesnt always (if ever) do anything.

VIAS opens the secondary runners at about 4800 RPM.... You should feel the power increase at about 4800rpm....if it starts to die off then it could be the VIAS. Look at the thread I gave you earlier to try and diagnose it.

Sounds like the tranny is working properly. If the secondary doesn't open then he will lose power as you go up in RPM above 4800RPM.

Buy a new MAF,... like someone else said.. cleaning wont do much def sounds like MAF to me,.. ive had it go bad on my 00 b4,.. messes up rpm's and shift points and all that good stuff,.. for 100 bucks and 30 mins DIY its worth a shot to help eliminate things but that is where i would advise to start from the sounds of it i had the same issue and MAF fixed it.. so good luck

Pathetic it is. It is also your MAF sensor. My car had the exact same symptoms and a new MAF today cured it. It was 95 with shipping from http://www.1staaanissanparts.com

Its not the VIAS, every time i punch my car(the gas, not literally ) it still throws me back & i go damn this still has some ballz haha, if yours is hardly moving throughout the powerband it def. sounds like a MAF which, everyone on here can say they'll go bad and wont throw a code.

ok so if you had code 1320 for coils. the coils are bad and should be replaced. the reason you are having the drop is due to the coils--if the coils are bad they cause a misfire which sometimes will not be detected by the ecu. if it was the misfire codes use 2 trip logic, meaning the same dtc has to be set again for it to turn the check engine lite on. also on my 2000 the Maf had like a dead spot in it. while driving at around 3200 rpm's the there was a hesitation--replaced the Maf and reprogrammed the Ecu and problem went away. lots of people here know about the Maf sensor problems, but i do see that alot of them do not get there ecu's reprogrammed, that will cause the maf to go again cuz it is an updated part and the ecu does not know the configeration of the new Maf sensor--it still thinks that the old one is in.(now that is not saying that all will go bad)
