engine power cutting down? Help!

I have a 2000 SE with 86,000 miles. Ran strong until recently when the engine power seems to cut-down at 3500 RPM's?!
No check engine light is on.
I did have the P1320 (ignition coil code) months before but they went off after I replaced the spark plugs and reset the computer a few months ago.
I did not yet change the coils however, but she was running better after until now.
The only other thing I did was disconnect the Negative Battery terminal [trying] to reset the ECU. I let if off for a few hours and reconnected it.
The problem creeped up sometime after that.
It happens warm or cold.
Any feedback would be helpful.
Thanks!

MAF ? With 86 K i would lean on that your maf sensor is on her way out. thats if you havnt changed it,.. also...intake? or stock? no misfires? and no new codes/lights? for between 80-100 bucks throw a new MAF and thier and i think it will amaze you,.. well i hope thats it at least,... just my .02 ( i had same issue b4 and that was it )

Maf

Thanks. Based off some other threads sounds like that may be the problem.
Where is the best place to get a new MAF at a good price?
I could do that install I assume...
And I will need a reflash/upgrade from a dealer?

I also have a question about that....i will floor my car and it will feel extremely fast until 4000 RPMs and then from 4000 to 5000-5250 it will seem like it lost all of the power and then it hits like 5k and it just takes off again and that is 1st and 2nd....i have never been going fast enough to do it through 3rd by the way it is auto....if that means anything????? i really hate it do you think it is a MAF or what????

I had similar problems with my car and replacing the MAF did fix it. I've seen that a few different problems show the same symptoms, but it sounds like the MAF to me

to the OP- call around some local dealers and see what they quote you for the MAF sensor,.. some one on here a few days ago said they got theirs for 78 from their dealer,.. i think the retail on them is 110ish,.. and i think when i got mine from the dealer it was 90? so.. yeah,.. if you change your own oil you can change this,..
fyi- if u pop the hood and look at the intake its the round tube with the sensor on top of it between the throttle body and the air filter,.. dealer will sell you the entire thing intact so all you do is un bolt your intake and when u put it back together put the new one on.. simple as that

>>> on the reflash.. everyones opinion will differ,.. personally i didnt get it done,.. and havnt had any problems,...they obviously advise doing so but a nissan master mechanic told me that its not 100% needed ,.. but on some occasions with out the flash you might throw a CEL,..and also with out it MPG might drop 1-2 i heard? idk ,... but yeah./. all i did was unplug my batt for some time and let the ecu relearn.. hope that helps... g/l if it doesnt,.. i would see if u can pull a code for a specific coil,.. but MAF should do the trick
,.. and if that is it,.. your going to wonder how long its been bad for and its going to feel like your driving a new car,.. make sure u take it easy on the throttle hah

Maf?

Thanks for the info. I have NOT recieved a new check engine light since it was last reset in September. Then it was "Ignition system" or something (P1320 I believe.)
The car does "buck" on early start-up and take off, only for the first minute or so after I start her up (sometimes).
The other thing I have noticed was that the RPM's are dropping lower than usual, now down to 600 with a little rough at times on idle.
In fact, the other night as I came to a stop sign, it stalled on a roll when I pushed the clutch in as I began to brake coming to the intersection! (it was cold but the car was warm... obviously it is a 5 speed).
I feel confident that a new MAF will make a big difference...
I just hope it is not something else...
but am still under debate as to having the new flash done.
Anyone else experienced anything like this?
Either way, I need to get this resolved!
Thanks again all,
R

I have no problems with power in my 02 but my idle is low as hell...say 100 to 150....seems like the car might shut off but it won't....can that be the MAF going bad as well? It's been that way for over a year and the stealership never mentioned anything about it when I took my car in for two recalls several months ago.
