Rings $100 if that. Labor, over $1000 easily.

Get on your back and check the bottom of the motor for leaks, I had the drinking oil issue too and thought it was the motor just burning oil or whatever. When I got my oil changed 3 weeks ago the mechanic noticed oil under my transmission and motor where they meet, I took it to nissan and they told me I have a rear main seal leak and its 11 hours labor to fix it!!!!

Also the best part is... IT will not leak when parked even overnight, so youll never know unless u crawl under the car and look. It mainlely only leaks when u are driving.

Also this happened to me right as I hit 60,500 miles. Fresh out of warranty!!

11 hours labor plus parts. I basically walked out pissed and havent been back, when it gets worse ill have to get it done or clean off the oil and trade it in.

Nissan is trying to F*ck you...

If it is that bad and Nissan will not help, just trade her in and get something else.

thats where i got the info from, your almighty thread... i did have slight oil looked like where the tranny bolts together but it looks old and dried up... like it was a problem and fixed but never cleaned off.... took off my crappy oil catch can (clogged up my pcv valve... hose full of oil ) so we will see if that has any effect. also going from 0w30 royal purple to 5w30 mobil 1.... lets see if that helps as well.......

bah... just when i got my idle fixed and was all happy..... why cant this ever end?

I too have the rear seal leaking but with close to 120k on my odometer. I was quoted 7 hrs to remove the aluminium pan and re-seal it with liquid gaskets, never really understood why these things leak in the first place (oh yeah it does leak right after 60k, isn't that wondeful).

The oil consumption on my vehicle is neglible, I will live with the leak till it gets messy and the oil loss is noticeble.
