finally smoked the tails

I talked about it enough so I thought I might as well not be lazy and do it. I was going to go with the tint covers, but I got it and wasn't too impressed. Anyways, they look darker in the pictures then they do in real life and I lost my digi cam so I had to use my phone and it's a little hard to see, but you get the point.

Back in the day, we used model tint spray. The stuff people use to tint windows on model cars. Worked well, and lasted a while considering I never cleared over it.

Nice. I need to get a can of that. Hard to spray on evenly? Does it run easily?

It can run yes.....I learned that on my 89, but I sprayed it from a further distance, spraying side to side and just made sure not to stay in one spot too long. As for the spraying it evenly, I just had to i kind judge where to spray and it worked out well I think

Yeah I saw they have sidemarkers on ebay but they are like 50 bucks with shipping just for the pair for the front or back. So this might be a little cheaper. And I am still debating on if im going to get smoked ones or clear. Thanks for the help though.

I smoked my sides. they look good and it was only $11 for the spray, and a day of working and letting them dry. but go slow and spay evenly and in layers. much better than buying the ones off of ebay.

Yeah, cheaper, in my case, is definitely a plus. So we'll see what happens. And if you do have any pics that would be awesome to see what they look like.

i would say those who are planning to smoke thier tails are going to make a mistake. 1st of all its illegal and it doesnt take that long to get bored of its look. i ruined my stock tails by painting them black i am not saying that smoked tails dont look good but they just cant be compared with nice looking stock se tails. does anyone want to trade the tails i have with your stock tails?

I just called my hardware store and told him the situation and that I needed something like Extra Virgin Lacquer Thinner. He just heard of Lacquer Thinner and I found some in my garage and used that.....even used it to get a smudge off the paint on the car

you could just do both. start with just the se look and then if you want the whole thing then smoke it all

i been gathering notes for awhile now about smokeing out lenses. there was a member on her who smoked out there amber lense on the 5.5 headlights. never seen it before him. my guess he's probably the first.... looks so tight. you can check out his pics here:
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2336863/2
now his lenses arent as dark as the lenses posted on here. do they actually sell smoked lenses that you have to cut down to size or is this a certain film/spray that someone might know about. def one of the best simple mods imo, especially you have a black max with the smoked side markers already such as myself.
