What size is the hose needed to drain the brake fluid? Any good instructions on the sequence and procedure?

Could you please elaborate more on this? You don't need any hose to drain the brake fluid. Just let it gravity bleed.

brakes

I've never done a gravity bleed. Most of the chilton's manuals I have for other cars say to put a hose to the nozzle and submerge the other end in a jar filled with a little clean brake fluid to prevent air from entering the caliper.
Is this not needed for the max? How fast does the fluid come out?

All you have to do is open up the bleeder valve you're working on and take off the resevoir cap. Put a clear hose (used with aquarium air pumps) over the valve to see if there are air bubbles coming out. I'm not sure how much you want to drain out, but that's a start.

I'm not familiar with Chilton's way so I can't comment on that process. I'll take a while for the fluid to come out, but you can speed up the process by stepping on the brakes.
