I'm really sorry guys, I could only manage 16.1 at 90.5 mph.

I had 3 runs, but it was same every time.

I have OSCAI with k&n and cattman y-pipe.

Is it my skills? or is it the car?

16.1 !!

That is not right.

ps. There were about 100 muscle cars running 11s and 12s.

WHOA!

You should be running alot better than that, especially with the 5 speed. I ran better than that with the same mods and I have the automagic.

What were your reaction times?
What was your 60 ft time?

Those are things that you should look at and get them to be as fast as possible, and then you will see an improvement at the other end, go back and just keep trying, you'll get better.

Woah... you should be in the low 15's/high 14's with the power you were putting down. Practice and patience is the key.

here are the details

reaction time = 1.42

60 ft. = 2.67

330 ft. = 7.09

1/8 mile = 10.63

I am so dissappointed, with the powers I'm putting down at the wheels, I should do much better.

in a stick max you should get a 2.1-2.2 60' time and w/ any car you should get between a .5 and .7 r/t...remember to shift at redline and don't get wheel spin and don't hop off the line

60' killed you. If you work on that, you'll definitely get bettet times.

try launching at 3500rpm make sure, ac, windows, and stuff are either closed or off. let your motor cool inbetween runs. try to avoid the wet spots in the brunout box.. if possible drive around it. dump the clutch when the second to last light has dimmed. and you're reaction time should be alot better. with a lil more work you should beat my time by .5sec or so.. i ran a 15.333 it was also my first time at the tracks, and first time dragging an automatic. i'm still more used to dragging 5spds, because that's what i started out with.. dont' practice too much, it's harsh on the clutch.

Reaction time has NOTHING to do with your elapsed time or speed in the 1/4 mile.

It only matters if you are racing against someone - because on the drag strip the winner is whoever gets to the finish line first NOT who has the lowest e.t. or the highest trap speed.

So in this case if your r/t is 3 seconds or a perfect .5 - you would still finish with 16.1

To learn how to drive your car FORGET about reaction time for now - concentrate on your launch.

Your 60' times are horrible. I would guess that you are either sitting there spinning or are bogging down really bad.

The consensus best way to launch is to rev to 3500-4000 and hold it there. Then, keeping the gas at that same point, let the clutch out PARTIALLY to the point just before your tires start to spin (practice). As soon as you've got traction let out the clutch the rest of the way as you give it more gas. Always trying to keep your tires from spinning but at the same time keeping your rpms high around 4000 +-.

You don't need to go to the track to practice this technique either! olice:

Do a search of the forum for more detailed discussions - but your problem seems to be the launch.

Not as easy as it sounds Mr Burner! I tried a couple of different launches last night and almost all resulted with wheel hop! One of my runs I did not wheel hop, but I bogged severely.

What is meant by the term "wheel hop"

How can you tell if your spinning out?

My personal best (so far)

I went to New England Dragway last night, my second time there. My previous best ET was 16.030 @ 86.78mph with 2.463 60'. Ambient was in the 80's. Last night I set a new best on my first run with a 15.896 @ 87.46mph with 2.415 60', ambient 72 deg. And a .560 R/T!
My car had no spare or anything in the trunk, and 1/4 tank of gas. Air pressure was 28 Front/32 Rear. I moved shifter as tach passed 6000 rpm which made it shift around 6400-6500 rpm.

drag a civic with ur maxima and you'll run 20s.. automagic cars are pretty consistant.. take off wut you can (1/4 gasoline left, jack, spare tire) and brake torque... and you should run from 15.6-15.9 good-moderate track conditions.

well not to BS but i let off for a split second, i didn't want to beat my own time because that would mean i'm out of the race, but then i thought, oh well. because i saw how i was pulling on the sC CRX and he seemed like he went to the track alot so i thought if i kept even with him my 1/4 run will be around a tenth above my dial in time.. i suspect i would have hit either 15.2 or possibly even 15.1 if i didn't let off for that split second (i dind't completely let off the gas pedal just a cm or two) or maybe i felt my foot coming up but the gas pedal was still planted.. not too sure. eitehr way i expect to beat my 15.3 time with the VB mod and having it to be my 2nd time at the track. i will be doing a few cheap tricks. tehn again i have real heavy wheels now so i guess i'll be running into the high 20's or so.
