safc for $175 bucks used

hello everybody a guy at the gym i work out at is selling a safc made by apexi for $175 bucks. Is this a good deal or should i pass on it. He said the safc are the best ones because they have more than one program and they can be adjusted. Is this a good deal and would it help my 2000 maxima with headers improve the hp. I still need to get dynoed so i can have my a/f ratio but if this is a good deal i dont want to pass on it. it is about two years old

Apex'i makes the VAFC and SAFC I & II.

Also, it's an air flow converter, by definition.

I fixed my post. And no, it doesn't adjust airflow. It converts the airflow signal to whatever you condition it to.

It's a very raw way of 'tuning'. Much less radical than the EMU, but better than adjusting FP and/or larger MAF housing alone.

I deem it suitable for a daily driver as long as you have a way to monitor the AFR. Plus, it's(AFC) got some decent info on there.

The SAFCII has a tendency to freak out after 6k (become oblivious to anything) and has to be powered down in order to restore its sanity. This has been posted before, just though I'd reinforce that fact as I've had it happen to me. I have also seen a dyno posted on here where it was painfully obvious what had occurred (gonzo after 6k), and as well as heard from another member that also saw the dyno thread of said obviousness stated it happens w/these things(SAFCII) often.

www.google.com and www.ebay.com. Do some shopping around on your own.

FYI, I paid 180 shipped for each of my two VAFC-IIs. Yes, I have two, don't ask. They were both used, in great condition, and work fine.

Do you mean the AFR not being monitired?

Unless you change any settings on the SAFC, it will not alter anything, therefore wont hurt anything.

Sometimes, not all the time after 6k, the RPM readout goes nuts, and any AF corrections made are non existent.(back to stock)
