Y-pipe bolts...

Hey guys I recently purchased Cattmans installation kit but i didnt get any new bolts except for one. I havnt put my car on a lift yet to seee but im sure all the bolts connecting the y-pipe are rusted. How many new bolts (and nuts) did you guys buy when you installed the y-pipe? I find it a little strange that I only got one bolt in the installation kit.

Thanks guys

koo, I just drove around to a local shop and the guy told me that it is possible that they could be studs instead of bolts. I told him that I read on the internet that it could possibly be 12x1.25mm and he said that is pretty big and on most cars its about a 10 instead of a 12. Can SOMEONE please help me out?!?! what size are these bolts and how many? or do I need to buy threaded studs instead?

the connections to the exhaust manifold are studs so you only need nuts (6). the only connections with nut and bolt are the cat connection (2)

ok... i got my y-pipe today and i only got one bolt as well.. i think thats all we're supposed to get because that's all that's listed on the paper included in the installation.. so soonerfan, is it wise to use those studs that are on the car now? mine are stock and have been on there for about 95,000 miles

Hmmm....thinking way back when I changed my Y-pipe last time.

For cali-spec I know you need 3 nuts for the top mount of the y-pipe. Beyond that I cannot remember worth **** how many nuts/bolts your need for the other connections.

Ok...you need 3 nuts for the top connection. Three bolts for the front connection, and two nuts for the rear connection. Don't know what the sizes are...but if you can get the current nuts/bolts off without stripping or breaking them then you should be able to reuse them.

whats the difference between the cali spec? and the fed spec? I thought a y pipe was a y pipe, UNTIL I LOOKED AT CATTMANS site. Also i notice that these cattmans dont have the precat like our stock y pipes have. But DO have the spots for the 02 sensors on both the cali and fed spec

Not sure on the number of bolts, but when I got under the car to change the y-pipe I couldn't believe how rusted the bolts were. So you will deffinetly need new ones.

And don't forget to make sure you have the correct seals and rings.

ok thanks, now with the difference between the cali and fed spec. Why are the bolt variances different? and what do you gain by NOT having that precat in the y-pipe?
