Stumped

Ok so today I had my front struts replaced as well as the mounts, wheel alignment afterwards. Tonight while driving I heard a clunking/ clicking/ snapping noise still from my front passenger side area. I know for a fact it was this area and it annoys the hell out of me especially since I just had this work done. Any ideas on what it could be? Ive posted this before and I havent really gotten a definitive answer but Im stumped. I asked the mechanic about the wheel bearing and he said it was fine. Nothing as far as the tie rods were concerned. The snapping noise or whatever the noise was he heard but didnt say it was much of a concern. Is this the normal way the suspension is tuned on the Maxima? It only comes from this side when Im making a left handed turn or left handed U-turn. Turning to the right doesnt make a noise on either side so what could this be? Thanks for the help.

Were the strut top bearings replaced? Or installed incorrectly?

try turning the wheel all the way to the left, then push down on the fender.. maybe the steering linkage is catching on something? Could also be the CV joint, but you'd think the mechanic would have noticed that. Check if the rubber boot is intact

I spoke with the mechanic that worked on my car and he reproduced the noise I was having and told me it was the axle. Left side axle. I just wanted to check in if this is possible on a car with only 54K on it? The struts were totally replaced mounts and all. Plus this clicking noise comes in also when Im in reverse slowly and turning the wheel at times. HELP!!! lol

Axle is different that what you replaced. Sounds like you are going to have to replace the axle.

One possibility too is the brake line may be bouncing around if not secured properly and can vibrate off the strut causing noise. Just a thought to check before you go and replace your axle.

Can the brake line make that much noise? I only ask because I have having a similar issue, but I think it may be a strut mount, or maybe a tie rod end due to the fact that the car makes a noise when I thrash the steering wheel back and forth, and the noise is in sync with the movement of the wheel, and yet the noise is evident on rough roads regardless of the thrashing. I dunno, I bought the car yesterday (03 SE TE) with 54k on it and I want the noise gone. And to think this is a Nissan Certified car.

armor_dan..if its still under warranty then take it back to the dealer you purchased it from. Make sure you take a drive with a tech and explain the noise. Its hard for them to deny it at that point...good luck.

If it doesn't have any warranty then pull the wheel where the sound is coming from. If the brake line is not tied down you will know right away. It should be clipped to the strut mount. Maybe it can make that much noise...not sure what your noise is exactly, but a simple fix if its the problem.

Thanks for the info foodmanry, I've taken it to the dealer and they tell me that the noise is a combo of the inner tie rod ends and the stabilizer end links being worn out, or something to that extent. I'm really suprised that the dealer has been so good to me, I've never owned a Nissan before, I'm guessing that Nissan really cares about their customers.
