Question about catalytic converter...

How many cats does my 01 Max AE have? My dealer replaced the cat, piping, and flange under the emissions warranty because the PO420 code was present. I lifted the car when I installed the springs/struts/shocks and It appeared there was a cat in the front and one in the middle before reaching the muffler. Does anyone have an answer for that? Thanks

Thanks. forgot. there's two pre-cats and the one rear that i saw under the car. You have any idea why after the dealer replaced the PO420 cat I'm still getting a rotten/sulfur egg smell when i go up a hill or really step on it????

You're maybe running too rich an air/fuel mixture. Are you using the correct octane level and are your intake and o2 sensors in good shape? Also remember there's a bank two cat. (p0430)

Just a note lake3031... I called my stealership about the "emissions warrantee" (it's an 80K mile warrantee on my 03') and the cats are covered. Not sure where you are with mileage, etc., but thought it might save you $ if you were not aware, and this applied to your 01'...
