Okay, I am going to re-up.....

and with my new enlistment comes a nice bonus.......25 grand to be exact. now half of this is going into a savings account for my "house down payment fund". 5 grand will go to taxes(and i should get half of that back next tax season), so that leaves me with 10,000 bucks. i am not going to spend it all on my Max, but i did have some mods in mind:

headers
y pipe
cat back exhaust (i like the HKS)
UR UDP
rear STB
rear sway bar
polyurethane engine mounts
STS
floor mats
repaint to fix all the chips and scratches
ECU of some sort

my biggest question, and yes i have searched, comes with the ECU. is the Technosquare worth it or should i keep the stocker and just advance the timing?

are there any other mods i am missing, performance wise, other than NOS, FI or cams? i am just looking to keep my Max with just bolt ons for the most part and i like the exterior as is. my sig has my mods.

let me know if there is something i should know about.

thanks guy

jim

Instead of throwing money at it, optimize your set-up.

Do your homework.

25k huh? they must really like you, i only got 20, but then again im just going in as a light vehicle maintence, so i guess im lucky i got that much.

good to here im not the only one planning on throwing enlistment money away on thier cars. if i were gonna dump it into my max, id say some crazy blown setup, prob turbo tho, and some big brakes.

im not gonna dump much more into my max, eu is on the way and hopefully will be on within the month, than maximized 150shot installed over the summer and im pretty much done(hopefully). im spending what im planning on not using as a downpayment on a town house on a 91/92 galant vr4, i can pick one of those up for 3-5k and spend the other 7-5k on upgrades, should have little trouble getting it into the low 12s, 10s maybe if i spray. my best friends build dsm's so ive already made many of them fast rather cheaply

I know I will get blasted for this.......don't spend anything on the car. Save it all or invest towards a new car.

My advice. F' the Max. Put as much as possible to your downpayment or invest. Spend only about $2-$3k on the car.

so a S/C huh? hmmmmmm..........

as for the "dont spend 10 grand on the car" thing. i dont have plans to drop all that on the car. i am gonna knock out a few bills, look for an engagement ring, etc. i figured maybe 3 grand or so for car crap.

thanks for the suggestions though guys!

Dont listen to people that tell u to buy a new car. I can beat every car out in our class except maybe the new tl-type S.

G35 are no prob now , is350.

Even a few outa our class mustangs gts, s2000s, e36 M3 etc..

Ive got full exhaust safc and tunning.

About 1000$ total in power addin parts.

If you got money like that to spend. I would try to do a custom turbo.
Just spend it wisly dont just go on a spree.

Am I the only person **** enough to notice the problem in the math here??? If your getting $25,000, and half is going into savings... that leaves you with $12,500. If you then put $5,000 towards taxes... You've only got $7,500 to put towards your max (or whatever).

EDIT: Unless you meant to say $25,000- 5,000 for taxes.... THEN half is going into savings and the other half to the max.... in that case I will STFU.

If I had that kind of cash right now I would go with,
  • Eibach springs, Tokico Illuminas, FTSB, RSB, Energy Suspension Bushing full set.
  • UDP, STS, New OEM Clutch (if needed), Lightened Flywheel.
  • Z32 BBK upgrade, New Wheels.
  • Technosquare L-spec, Cattman full exhaust setup (headers/ Y-pipe/ Cat/ B-pipe/ Muffler)
  • Camshafts, Rods, Pistons, Studs, ...etc..beef up that engine. (If you go FI, you need to upgrade the engine)
I forgot, also 2 big bottles of NAWS

Or you can skip all that and get a JUN stroker kit,

Well in that case the car probably is a better investment.

Kidding.

Invest the dough. I take it you're going back overseas? Let the money work for you while you're gone, and also make sure you're the only one with access to it. Just...Trust me on that one.

go with your edited answer.

lol, but yeah, the taxes come out first, then ten grand goes into savings not to be touched for a while. the other 10 is for car crap, bills, ring, etc.

as for getting another car.......thats a tough one. i love my Max! besides, i am still paying on it and i am not sure how that whole thing works.

For sure dude. i would say invest and save for a cooler/faster car. the maxima just isnt that great of a tuner car. Very cool, quick and practical, but not really a true sports car.
