6 speed shifter bushings

Please comment if you have these. So do these really help with the notchiness? I did a search and it looks like Energy Suspension is the best. I want to get these but I dont know if I need the front or rear ones. Can someone clarify? Guess I may as well get a short shifter while Im at it. Thanks in advance

So far I really can't tell if I like mine or not....Sometimes it's nearly impossible to get it into reverse when cold now, and notchiness was unaffected. The main thing they did was eliminate the play in the shifter, which I like, but now when the tranny is cold it feels a bit stiffer...

Warm tranny + ES bushings = win

You'll definately notice a difference, but give it a couple weeks to decide if you like them. I just did the 2 big bushings last week. I figured I'd save the "base" bushings until later to determine if they make a difference.

But yeah, the bushings are well worth the money. Shifting is much more accurate.

I installed the base bushings two days after the two main ones and noticed no difference. The stock ones don't really move that much...All my bushings were in perfect condition unlike many I've seen on the .org though.

I replaced all mine at once. I love the newer bushings. The notchiness is still there but less pronounced. I plastered everything with synthetic grease and I am glad I invested the money for them. But I also have the watkins STS so maybe that helps even more than bushings alone.

i installed the bushings (+the base ones) when i installed my STS...the notchiness was improved a little bit. the main improvement was that it firmed up the sloppiness of the shifter. there isnt as much play and its easier to find the right gears. yes its a little bit stiff...but thats better than the lose ambiguous feel. reverse is a little hard but i got used to it.

Is the install hard?

They come in a package for like $20 or something. The install is a PITA. I used vice grips to press the new ones in and a screw driver to get the old ones out. Use a lot of lithium grease, otherwise your bushings will make a weird squeaky noise and the notchiness will be amplified. The hardest one is the main one in the engine bay because you hardly have roomm to work with and the angle at which you're doing it is kind of ignorant...

you need both

i would call brian (at cattman) and see if he still has these. i got them from him for a good price.

while you are doing this (and have everything apart) you might as well do the STS.

I got mine from brian for 22 shipped and my car has a 104k miles on it and I defintely noticed a deifference especially after i got my twm sts which completely gets rid of any notchiness I recommend the bushings, and install is really easy and it comes with directions, just hard squeezing the bushing in under the hood
