Microfilter Question

I have an 03 and the glove box says the microfilter is washable. I remember trying to wash the factory installed microfilter but it didn't seem worth because it was so flimsy.

Since the original/factory installed microfilter is different than the replacement filter, is the replacement washable as well?
Thanks

im pretty sure newer replacement filters have carbon of some sort in them and would not be washable.

use my microfilter mod....You can actually carbonize the filter yourself if you wanted to. Based on simple chemical properties, and from a video on CAR&Driver, carbonized filters are carbonized by simply spraying a mist of mixed peroxide and baking soda..Too much of this mixed together can cause some injury though, as it builds up unforeseen amounts of pressure..If u ever smelled a carbonized filter, you'd realize that it smells EXACTLY similar to baking soda and peroxide. In any case if u wanna do this, get a spray bottle from the dollar store, mixed about 1/4 cup of peroxide and 2 teaspoons of Baking soda. its prolly gonna come out as a foam, but once the filter is covered, let it sit in the SUN, outside. this reduces the oxidation of the filter, and gives the makeup of the filter a percentage of 61% Carbon. I ran this by my professor at CCSU, and he said it wouldnt retain THAT much carbon, but it would contain close to 25%...either way the filters carbonized!

But then again, u can just go to the stealership and buy one....every year!
