click, click when turning wheel.

When I turn my steering wheel either left or right I get this clicking noise that can be felt from the wheels thru to the steering wheel. Its not a hard clock but only heard when I am turning the wheel at a slow speed. Someone mentioned that it could be my steering link? getting caught? Is this a common issue with the 5th gen's? I have just over 54K miles on the car. Could worn bushings cause this? Im in the dark with this one.

You have a bad CV joint (axle) or two. Go to a parking lot with a buddy and do slow turns left and right and have your buddy walk next to the car and see if they can determine if one or both are making the noise.

Is it on slow turns or only on full lock turns? I think it could be three things:

1. CV joints, as stated above. Check the CV boots to see if they are ripped or if you see any grease leaking.

2. Steering "bump stops", if it happens on full lock turns.

3. Some foreign object caught in your LCA assembly somewhere?

Im taking a stab here but it sounds as though it could be the axle, more specific the CV joint. There are ball bearings inside where the axle turns and they somehow go bad. When you turn the wheel and the bearing inside is no good, you get a clicking type sound. I assume this is what clicking noise you refer to.

If you get under your car and see a tear in the inner or outer CV then you can be sure that you've got an issue there. If you don't see any tears you might have to investigate further. That said, however, I have had CV's with good boots fall apart. Other things that can click on turns are bent/cracked rims or failing differential gears in the transmission. You'll just have to get under it and take a look, nobody can say with absolute certainty what your problem is without having driven your car. Good luck!

I have a feeling its the CV joints. It seems that its been an issue with this specific model maxima and the symptoms are felt through the steering wheel a bit. The rims are in perfect shape aside froma minor curb rash on one of them. Not that its a definitive assumption but how much does it take to change CV joints on this car? Thanks for the help!

Seriously, I can't believe that OEM joints suck so much *****, my driver's side started clicking.
(I've only replaced my passenger side with a Raxle which is bad azz, but now I have the driver's side ready to slip in)

Yea Cv Joints im for sure because im taking my max in this thursday in for new cv joints. I was quoted 140 for both axles and about 100 something for labor. not a terrible cost. And I also have heard good things about Raxles.com

high-powered, heavy FWD car = CV axles go bad. That's just the way it is. Hell, I had 3 go bad on my Acura Integra in a 4-year span, and our cars are much heavier, load the axles much more in turns, and have much more power...

how much is the cost of raxles? I was searching their site for a price and couldnt find one. I want to do this as soon as possible because after reading their website I found that a lot of the symptoms with my car is coming from my front axle with there being a shuddering upon acceleration and a vibration and clicking noise. Thanks.

do Raxles actually provide any additional benefit for non performance driven maxes? I drive to the train station and back, I am nor racing or driving hard. (no lowering springs, intake or anything like that. Is it worth the money, or should I just get the regular ones for $80 each. If so, anyone recommend a regular axle?

They're more reliable than stock by far.
