Those who have cleared your blinker light...

I PM'ed Housecor last night but Im impatient and thirsty for knowledge. Ok so i tried Home Depot but couldnt find a lense that would work to clear my blinker lights (maybe i didnt look hard enough) so I emailed Tap Plastic and had a link in the email to Housecor's How to for it so they would know what lense i was talking about. I ordered the lights no problem, they seemed like they knew what i was talking about. Upon opening the package and taking out the piece of plastice/lense from bubble wrap i immediately didnt think it was the right light but ive never taken apart my headlights and pictures can be misleading so tell me what u think guys. If you know what kind of lense it is you are using from Home Depot that would help a lot, they didnt seem to think they had any kind of dome light lense i was describing to them. Or if you know what kind of lense you ordered from Tap Plastics that would be much appreciated.

Theres no sphere shape in the lens if you know what im saying. Its just straight across and wont hold any liquid. Does it need to have a sphere shape?

It is nice and frosty but it doesnt seem to be a lense like most are using.

For what its worth, here is what it actually is, from their email back to me: TAP Plastics cuts 3.25" Diameter Circles from 1/4" thick P-95 Matte Finish
Clear Acrylic for the "Frosted" look or 1/4" Clear Acrylic for the "Clear"
look.

those are the frosted ones. im not sure if you have to dremel them, but they look really thick. if you want the home depot one. go to the gardening lights section in home depot or lowes. the one i bought came with housing and i had to dremel it out. the lens will look just like the lens above your blinkers. i dont know the part number, but i knew that one was it because of the way the lens looked. good luck finding them.

Yeah, I'm not sure if Malibu lighting changed their item number or not, but when I did mine about 2 years ago, the item number was M11P2 which I found in Home Depot's outside lighting department. When I did mine, I made sure the lens lined up with the courtesy light lens above it. If you look closely, the "groove" lines on the courtesy lamp runs slightly angled. Do the same with the blinker lens so that it doesn't appear crooked. This way, it gives it more of a custom look. Here is a pic of mine installed on the car.

You can just leave it out and get some Chrome turning signals.

Haha good question. Well after talking to a few employees there that werent helpful i just got frustrated and left and figured i could get it from Tap Plastics. They all said nope, we dont have anything like that sorry. I found a bunch of flood lights but the lenses were all thick glass that wouldnt be able to be cut w/ a dremmel. I should have been more persistent though.

Can you please take a close up of your light so we can see what it looks like without the lens.

Thanks

I got in touch with Malibu and ordered the lenses directly from them. I Googled them to find a supplier and had to try a few times to get someone who could help. The other places I tried could only get what they carried and couldn't order anything else.

I tried the Tap Plastic lense too. When I saw what they were I returned them. It's just a piece of plexiglass cut into a circle. Probably $1.00 worth of material and it doesn't even match the rest of the lights. You may have to search to get the Malibu lights but it's worth it.

hey i made a thread like this couple weeks ago and someone posted an email they got from tap plastics

This is from an email a few weeks back, hope it helps:

TAP Plastics cuts 3.25" Diameter Circles from 1/4" thick P-95 Matte Finish
Clear Acrylic for the "Frosted" look or 1/4" Clear Acrylic for the "Clear"
look. We have cut over a hundred sets here in the San Leandro store and have
shipped them all over the world. The cost for a pair of 3.25" diameter
circles is only $12.50 plus any applicable taxes and shipping charges. Since
these would be going to Amarillo, TX, there would be NO taxes and the
handling charges shipping via UPS Ground would be $6.25. Email your
shipping/billing address to me and call us this morning with your Credit
Card information and we will ship your set out today. TAP Plastics accepts
VISA, MasterCard and Discover.

Thank You,

Russ Miller

Everyone i explained it to at home depot responded with, "wait, what are you trying to do?" and then "I don't think you can do that". It was kind of annoying...

my turn signal area's orange lense was replaced by the projector lense from an acura integra. came out pretty good and kinda spreads the blinker light a bit more. also gives a funny looking round output if you're close to a wall lol

You don't have to use a specific lens. Just so long as it's plastic and oversized so you can cut it down to size. If it's concave in shape then better, if not then NO big deal.

I got mine off of a curb light. Worked out great.

When removing the lense from the (malibu) Flood Light do you just pry? or what? I just dont want to break my nice lenses.

I just drained my blinker fluid. Ha Ha I had to say it. With the malibu lenses you trace the orange piece out and cut with a dremel then fine tune it to fit.

The first time I tried this mod I actually pried the lense before dremeling. BAD idea. Got one off fine, but when I went to pry off the second lense it had a hairline crack in it. So I spent another $10.60 getting a second set lol.

Just sharpie and dremel. Should take an hour or so for dremeling and smoothing it out. Cut out side of the sharpie line and then with the dremel sanding drum sand up to the line. That way it will be slightly larger and you can test fit. Sand off any excess and use 1 minute epoxy to set it.

Learn from my mistakes I've done this mod enough times haha
