i have just purchased a 2001 maxima and ive noticed a slight pull to the right, the car has only 800 miles on it and i was wondering if i should take it to align at the dealer(warranty) or should i wait a bit more miles (break in).

i have also noticed that the ride is a bit harsh and i was wondering if that was normal for an se with 17" wheels and convenience package.

thanks guys

I'm sure the dealer will fix it for you under warranty.

The SE's are a bit harsher than the other models because of the stiffer suspension.

The 17's will ride a bit stiff-leggedly when they are properly inflated. It's a function mostly of the short (50 series) sidewall height. And note that the 17" tires on cars in the dealer's lot may be intentionally left 4 or 5 psi low for sales reasons; normal test drives would feature a somewhat smoother ride.

I've read about a 12 mo/12K warranty on the alignment so go get your freebie now.

Yea, I think that warrenty period is just a courtesy thing, it could vary. Get it checked if you're paranoid like me. Oh, does the car pull to the right only if you're on the right side of the road when it tilts to the right for drainage? or does it also pull to the left when say you are in the left lane and the road is tilted to the left... and are your tire pressures equal? when I checked mine, it made all the difference

Had the prob and think I might still have it..

I went through the very same thing when I first
got my max. It all ways seemed to pull. And
I mean as soon as I got it I noticed it pulling.

But I thought it might just be that I was not
used to driving such a tight ride of a car that
handled so well being that I just came out of
a Caviler. I just though that the steering is
much more sensitive that maybe it was my
imagination. Well now I can say it was not,
I still always feel as though I need to fight
the car to keep it on the road. At times I get
really Pi$$ed, that I was at the dealer many
times for alignments, tire rotations, they
even re-centered my steering wheel if that
makes any sense to you at all. Every time
they said that I met all the standard specs
and then tried to make me think it was
everything BUT the car
(the road, my tires, blah..blah..blah)
It is all bs. That is the one big thing
I hate about the car.
I just wish they could do something
about it instead of just blowing it off.
How many days can I make an appointment,
be without a car, and then have it sit
on the lot all day till they finally
look at it for 10 mins. Now I have to
set up a ride. Get dropped off there
to have them tell me the car meets the
specs and that they checked the tire pressure
and it should be ok now.
So off we go. I pull out of the lot find a
flat spot in the road let go of the wheel
for two secs and get one of those
well known weight reducing gouges in my
rim from the curb.... OH YEAH MUCH BETTER!!!!!

PS the gouge thing..
That was just my imagination running wild.
The rest is all true.

Yup I know what you mean, I came from a Cavalier too, a 1990. I hate it when people from the service dept gives you the run around... Hate it, had to leave my car once, got all stranded at work and it sucked. The car, although with it's small problems, I love it, but the service sucks.I think I'm too critical.

As I described on another thread, I’ve had the same problem. I didn’t get my free dealer alignment until 10,000 miles so the left front tire was already showing an uneven wear pattern, i.e., more wear on the outer third of the tread. But switching the front tires to the opposite sides seems to solve the problem for now. Perhaps I can go with this until I eventually replace the tires. And for sure, I’m going to get more frequent alignments from now on.
