Need some help

Hey guys,

I've got an '02 Max that I purchased used a little over a year ago. I really like the car but lately I'm having some problems. When I go over a bump or rough pavement the car seems to "wobble" for lack of a better term. It seems like the suspension might be loose because there is a slight rattle. It doesn't do it hat highway speeds, just in town driving. A friend was riding with me and he mentioned something about it possibly being a bad/broken CV joint. The reason I'm posting this is because I'm going out of town and I'm taking my car to the Nissan dealership and I want to try to give them a better explanation of what the problem could be. My extended warranty runs out in about 3k miles so I need to have any problems addressed pretty quickly.

Sorry for the long post. Any input is appreciated.

1. don't listen to your friend. if you had a broken CV joint, you wouldn't be moving. And if the CV joint is worn/bad, it will not affect the ride of the car significantly (or at all).

there are alot of things that could cause that vague "wobble" you note, but here are some possibilities:

1. broken/worn control arm bushings
2. blow strut(s)
3. bad wheel bearing(s)
4. loose bolts someplace in the suspension/front subframe.
5. worn/bad steering tie rod end
6. worn/bad lower balljoint
7. bad upper strut mount.

as to the rattle..........well, there are alot of rattles in maximas, even when they're in good shape, lol...

Thanks for your help guys. The dealership will have the car for a week while I'm gone so I'll get them to check all of those things.

Yeah my friend could have meant cv boot.

cv boot would most definitely NOT affect the ride or handling of the car.

"CV joint" is a typical thing that gets blurted out by people who want to act like they know about cars but really have no idea what they're talking about. I mentioned about a year ago to a buddy of mine that my steering was a bit sloppy with my tie bar taken off. He was like "maybe your CV joint is bad." I was like "wtf are you talking about, do you even know what a CV joint does?"

delete this post NOW or you will be banned and not able to sell your maxima on here at all.

This kind of post goes in the "maximas for sale" section, NOT this section.
