Had some fun on my way to work

I'm on an access road in the right lane, getting ready to merge into the left lane to make an entrance onto the highway...This jerk decides to close the gap that I was getting ready to move into. So rather than getting mad, I decide to take my Automagic out of O/D and just give it the WOT. My car just jumps into the lane, like an animal. Not only was I suprised at how easily it did it, so was the jerk. His mouth was wide open...
I've been experimenting with taking my Automagic out of O/D when I'm at lower speeds for quick acceleration, and it seems to work. I would guess it's because the engine is operating more towards the power band, 3000 rpm and up?
Maybe some other Automagics could comment on this. I'm still getting the feel of my car.
Also, for those who take them to the track, do you run your quarter mile times with O/D off or on?

I leave my OD off unless I'm cruising on the freeway. For racing, I also leave the OD off, but it doesn't matter because your gearing won't change.
If you floor it at about 70, the automagic will shift down to 2nd gear (even in 4th).

I was talking to my dad about it, he used to build racing engines for VW's and Porsche's, and he said that most of the mods that I've been telling him about, intake, y-pipe, exhaust, are going to create the most difference in the middle to upper RPM ranges.
So I speculated that taking O/D off, will allow the engine to run at higher RPM in the same gears, and will therefore create more acceleration. I would also guess that a modded MAX 1/4 mile time would be faster without O/D than with.
I only have the intake, but more is coming...
It's kinda cool that I bought this car, because now my dad can relive his glory days of building race cars. Just on a smaller scale. He started with 409 cu. inches and 450HP.
Anyway, sorry so long, he will probably be getting a 2002-2003 Altima. It's more his style these days...

Hey PhatGuy,
Are those direct quotes from Ward's in your earlier post?
"World’s best throttle response"
"Conan the Barbarian: Still slays all competitors."
Sorry Acura 3.2 owners not this year!
I knew they voted it in the 10 Best for 2001, but that is some strong language.

I passed a Camaro SS and he pulled up to me in a parking lot, and asked what was under the hood. I told him I was stock, and he started to laugh, I looked at him, and he said yeah right, you have something under there. We went into a conversation about 4th gen kicking the crap out of him. He had the S/C, and it made almost the same sound as mine....I looked at him, and said really ?....He said I'll stay away from you tonight...he left and I started to laugh. What an ego boost.
