Gauge Cluster Stopped Working

First off, I used the search function and found nothing about this. I fired up the car today after not driving it for a few days and let it warm up for a few minutes. When I went to leave I noticed that none of the gauges were working. The speedometer and tachometer were both at zero and not moving. Now, I think that it was working when I started it up because I noticed the odometer was on, but shut off like I had turned the car off. I'm planning on taking it in to get looked at, but does anyone have any ideas?

im clueless...the only thing thats ever happened to mine is the right side of the lights on my gauge cluster didnt turn on once, I flickered them on off several times and that fixed it, MAYBE the bulbs are going slowly, i couldnt even begin to tell you if its some sort of fuse maybe,

If all gauges and leds in the cluster do not turn on, check the fuse labeled "meter" (fuse box in lower dash, drivers side). If that is fine, you may have a bad gauge cluster.

gauges & brake lights not working

My gauges for my fuel, speedometer, rpm and my brake lights don't work. I have a 2005 Nissan Maxima. What could be the problem?

I had a problem like this a few years back. The solution was taking out the cluster and tighten all the screws that you see behind it. You will be shocked to see how the screws slacked over time.

In the 97's the transmission slips when some screws on the speedometer get looose. I know a dude who had this same problem in a 97 and had the transmission rebuilt, and still the same problem. I told him to tighten the screws in the cluster and no transmission issues. He spent over a $1,000 for nothing.
